Funny that you left out the part that said ''Not everyone has been so quick to adopt the term — it’s received substantial backlash from people of Latin descent in the U.S. In a 2020 survey, the Pew Research Center found that “Latinx” is used by just 3% of Latin Americans in the U.S. Some feel it contorts the Spanish language, while others don’t believe in adopting a term that’s fairly difficult to pronounce in Spanish. ''

Yeah that's why I quoted someone who prefers to use "Latine" instead explain why. Keep reading.

Okay? There's plenty of sources linked in the Wikipedia page that back up the origin of where Latinx/Latine came from, which is queer activists of Latin American descent.

It's not like it's being forced upon people, it specifically was created as a gender neutral term for queer people of Latin American descent to use for themselves. You don't have to use it. But it genuinely is a term that queer people of Latin American descent and Latin American use for themselves so I don't really know what your argument is with it.

I mean, you also could have listed those instead of giving a Wikipedia link. I'd be more inclined to look into it then but instead it's on me to dig for what you want me to know. I don't think it's typically the person listening to your presentations responsibility to do the research for the presenter.

Yeah, that'd require verifying what those sources contain, if the sources are still available and not behind paywalls, if they even say what the source links claim...

I've done the wikipedia dig. Trust me, anything *remotely* connected to the social sciences is at best a narrative, at worst outright lies. Technical/mathematical stuff is usually good, raw historical content is hit-and-miss, but social stuff? Yeah no, I've seen the outright lies there.

Wikipedia and Teen Vogue as sources. C'mon, there's gotta be something better than that...

    *Checks wikipedia*

Citation that it's not in common usage, cool. Loops back to the Teen Vogue one that references that same Pew research the Wikipedia article links to, and a number of unrelated topics that are already focused on a preordained conclusion rather than summrizing the facts. Neat.

I'm glad to see that Sena's defense is upheld by sterling scholars. She is truly one of the people of all time. I hope some day to insult people as frequently and openly as she does, and have such ardent defenders.

I've seen it the first time, I've just ignored it cause the quote is just an random Anecdote and make out a poor argument. It also dosen't change only 3% of Latin Americans in the U.S use it.

Oh yea and considering your wikipedia article state that the term itself just come from U.S Academia, I can only picture it like every other similar ''woke term''. AKA it just something created by a bunch of White people who want to virtue signal and yap about a culture or sub-culture they barely know about.
