I would say Sena was quite good in all of these. Although none of them showed aptitude for playing a woman with a Latino accent.

It shows that a huge portion of the blame is on SE for casting Sena in this role. The nepotism is real because I find it hard to believe they listened to her previous work and genuinely thought she would be a good fit.

It's sad in a way. She has talent, but is being put (or putting herself) into roles that will inevitably highlight obvious weaknesses.

Which likes to get ignored in the conversation completly as if only Sena was part of the process.
The truth here is that this entire expansion was pretty mid in voice acting quality (English only because actually German and Japanese were bangers). Wuk has the biggest problem that she is 90 % around all the time and bad voice acting becomes way more aggravating. The problem with this situation is that sena is trans so ofc every person being a critic must also be a bigot or a transphobe. I have 2 trans friends I do play every day with and they 1: hate the English voice and 2; can’t stand this “preach water and drink wine” attitude that effectively undermines all the struggles they have in the daily life and 3: can’t stand these twitter takes this person has ( hypocritical and vile wording and behaviour only if the person isn’t on the receiving end) Both of them don’t interact with the LGBTQ community because of some people that take things way way way too far.

Like I would have loved a good voice performance from a trans person for a role this big and gaining a massive accomplishment for the trans community but we got a bad one and the critics being labelled transphobic or bigots.

As someone who also didn't like Sena's job as Wuk Lamat, I can tell you that you are really missing that there are 100% for a fact people actually being transphobic, calling her a man, saying all kinds of crazy things that have genuinely nothing to do with her job as a voice actor in Dawntrail. Nobody cares if you criticize her job as Wuk Lamat, but there ARE genuinely people being transphobic towards her, too.

I can link you some right here: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...=1#post6562718

And no, no one is saying those are the majority of criticisms lobbed at her, either. All people are saying is that the transphobic comments do exist and we can see them with our own eyes. You can criticize Sena for her VA job and behavior all you want, but don't be transphobic about it, then people are just hurting random trans people like your 2 trans friends and that sucks, they have nothing to do with Sena or her behavior.

So much this. I am trans myself. I do not like the character of Wuk Lamat. I found her pretty insufferable, the quality of the voice acting was mid at it's best. I don't know much about the voice actor, but she seems like kind of a pos. I feel like most of the comments I've read on the forums since DT launched have been fairly valid and I could agree with them, but the amount of actual real transphobic behavior in this particular thread has been very upsetting. The amount of times I've seen people in this thread alone referring to the voice actor as he with no understanding of why that isn't okay is shocking.

There's also been a fair share of people not just in this thread, but all across the forums lately who come in and say any criticism against her IS transphobia, and I cannot stand that either. I absolutely do not like people like that. Still though, the way this thread has gone completely off the walls has been upsetting to see. Some people in here may claim not to hate trans people, but they sure don't seem to respect them.

Here's the unfortunate reality in regards to that, and it genuinely is a shame.

Respect is earned. Not simply given. There's been countless occurrences of people in that community committing heinous acts against others for generally innocuous things over the past decade or so. As well as the general attitude portrayed by the selfsame people towards the general populace being incredibly arrogant, entitled, vitriolic, and self-righteous.

All while insisting they are the victims. No matter the circumstance.

Whatever good will and respect there was ten-odd years ago has greatly diminished because of this. People are fed up with it. As hard it may be to hear, the majority of the blame is on that community. Not as a whole, of course. Which should go without saying. However, this attitude I allude to is prevalent everywhere you look online. These forums included.

Believe it or not, that's the truth of it.

Trans people aren't a community, they are literally just people. Some random trans person you've never met before has literally nothing to do with nor is responsible some other random trans person being an asshole to you. That's a crazy to think, honestly, and makes exactly 0 logical sense.

...They are literally referred to and refer to themselves as a community all the time.

Anyway, yes. Every individual is an individual. Obviously. That's also why I pointed out that the fault doesn't lie on them as a whole. Again, there's been countless examples throughout the years of people who call themselves trans being absolutely despicable people. Doxxing people, causing them to lose their jobs, assault, the list goes on.

If you choose to be ignorant of all of it, then that's your choice.

You can provide your last reply on this topic. I really don't want to keep talking about trans people past this outside of the one relevant to the game that's receiving criticism.

I think with community he means the same one that spearheaded slander campaigns against twitch streamers playing Hogwarts Legacy for example. Sent them threats and spewed a bunch of disgusting messages in their chat. You know the type that call everyone a transphobe, terf and bigot if you don't agree to their exact terms. The ones that hang out in an echo chamber on twitter and reddit and are up in arms over nothing because they are so self-absorbed they think the whole world should adapt just for them.

Ah, I believe we have a misunderstanding. When I say respect I am talking about the basic human decency you would give to any person. It's asking for very little to be called by your preferred pronouns. I don't care if a person believes I'm a girl or not, nor do I care if they hate me for what I am, but I do expect them to give me the basic human decency of calling me by my proper gender just the same as I would never call someone by the wrong gender even if I hated that person.

However, in regards to your argument, I cannot say I agree. There is much about the lgbt community that I am not a fan of, much of what you said being an excellent example. However, making sweeping generalizations of entire groups of people is never really a good idea. Respect should be earned on the personal level. How a subsection of trans people act should in no way reflect on a persons view of or respect for me. It's no different than the fact that the sum total of poor behavior and the very real cases of transphobia that have gone on in this thread do not reflect, nor should say, on each induvial here. Color an entire group of people, especially in a negative sense, with one color is just good ole fashion bigotry.

That too, is the truth of it.
