Suggestion to Forum Mods: Copy ESO's Forum Rule

Why not make a Real World board and then have a rule that limits real world matters to that place? We get the majority of forum space to discuss the game and matters relating to it devoid of extraneous real world cultural/political arguments and those people who do want to inject their real world culture/politics into everything have their board too.

Such a forum is not needed in a gaming community and there is good reason it's disallowed. Games are global products and are supposed to bring people together for a shared hobby.

If people are so passionate, why not go volunteer for a political campaign or go discuss those issues where it is appropriate and relevant?

I never even knew these forums existed until recently, and I genuinely just thought the FFXIV community was super friendly and great based off my interactions with people in game and on other social media related to the game. This is genuinely the only FFXIV related place online that I've seen that has an awful community. I don't know what is going on here, if the mods just don't care or don't exist or what, but everywhere else FFXIV related is 1000 times better than here.

This would be right in an ideal world, or if we'd stopped them getting in to begin with, but the first is void anyway and the second ship has sailed. Accepting that short of bringing in a level of moderation that appears unprecedented here to delete posts and remove repeat offenders, the only thing we can sensibly do is isolate them in a board where they can be ignored.

The problem is without more moderation to delete posts and remove repeat offenders, sending them off to their own little weirdo pit just means they will only get worse there and just continue posting weird stuff everywhere else. Even with a rules change like the OP is suggesting, it means nothing if there isn't moderation to enforce it. The only real solution is more moderation, and also more people reporting things to help out the moderation. That's really all you can do.

That's quite common when one steps outside one's echo chamber. You might not agree with views that are against Poochie, but they are pretty widespread beyond these forums.

Some people love Poochie for being entertaining
Some think the writing is so full of plotholes that a horny middle-schooler could have done better
Some people love Poochie as they think she needs to be defended because they think she is trans (she isn't [cenote scene with real dad])
Some people love Poochie as they need to feel like they are protecting and being a good ally for the ENG VA who is a "hornet nest poker"
Some people found the story was irritating and wasn't able to be played without regular breaks to hit ones head on the wall
Some people found the ENG VA to be incredibly sub par and too much to listen to as the main character
Some people hate change and will always have issues around that
Some are scared that this is indicative of a problem at SE and if they don't pull their socks up the game will fade
Some think SE just phoned it in
Some are conservative (and I will leave that part at this one word)
And Flower, listen to me, some think that the severe amount of Blackhole Sue poochie has eats all the fun, when one can have her tank a trial without needing heals only to one shot a boss, before eating a breakfast of tacos then brining on world peace.


(yes I am sitting down, poochie echo heals herself and as long as I have a haima or shield on, I can sit in non-vuln splash without issue)

And some pick multiples from the list.

What you see on the forums - if you leave the endless baiting of bored crafters to one side - is a lot more representative of the true community over any echo chamber you might have been in.

Only when you're unable to distinguish between fictional settings and real life things.

Inspiration is not copy, and most times, the associations comes from personal biases.

My point is, a game that has characters such as Hermes or Hephaestus might naturally spawn a discussion on ancient mythology.

Or Ishgard’s pope might raise genuine questions about Christianity.

Or Orthard’s relation to Shinto.

Or Shiva, or Ravana, or or or. The list goes on.

If you outright ban religious discussion, those kinds of honest topics fall under that.

I remember a german post in the english forum who was very offendet by the Sin Eater as affront to Christianity.
So yeah. True Neutrality isnt a thing one can practice especialy with Stories than engange with conflict if its not deeply emotional personal.
I could also mention some the other things that get picked up by Final Fantasy as a Franchise that would lead into conversations and debates.
Final Fantasy 7 without its legacy status would be a highly debated game if released today with its topics and themes.

I think the most ridiculous claim of being non-political was from a Ego-Shooter that was based on a real War.

Anyway as someone mentioned it before even with such a Rule it wouldnt change much considering they dont even enforce the rules that are here.
Atleast not in English Forums, the Japanese Moderation is more strict.

Would be amazing if we could include mixing up real life people or cultures with the in Game world.

This would reduce the "I AM (or want to be) OFFENDED BY X" Threads by 100%

That is a mute point anyway as we literaly have the rule

And this happend here enough

But from what i can see "Criticing the Design of the Company" is one of the few things people here tend to have in common.
The details what is seen as important and what not my differ tho.
