I wish there was a way to make people understand, I don't want to be a healer at all. I have no patience to do it. I am the totally wrong person to ask to heal. You will die if you make me one!

I is DD conjurer, I don't care if I do crap damage, I'd rather do crap damage than have someone rely on me to heal them.

Then just flat out tell them you're not a healer. Say, "Sorry, I want to DD, not heal". You don't solve the problem by ignoring it.

In FFXI, I leveled Nin. But I was completely against tanking as a nin (as it wasn't what it was designed for). I was a DD Nin. So when I got party invites, I told them "I'm not tanking".

Basically I got one of two responses:

    1) No party invite, no response.
    2) Why?

When they asked why, I actually explained it to them. And once they were educated, they saw the use in having Nin as DD, invited me, and we went on to find a different person to Tank.

So yes, there will be times when ignorant people will discriminate against you for not fitting their concept (by the way, this is no different than racial profiling and stereotyping). But if you educate people who are willing to listen, it goes a long way.

You shouldn't be willing to give up your right to choose (freedom) just so that you'll fit into a narrow mold made by ignorant minds.

Down with pigeon-holing jobs, down with discrimination! Hooray to choice and versatility!

EDIT: At the same time, however, you should be willing to be flexible if you don't have a lot of options available. If you are the only free Conjurer online at the moment, and you want a party, you should be willing to heal if you really want to party.

Kaedan, I have to throw out a lot of respect toward you for this. It wasn't easy going against the flow in FFXI. Good for you.
