*stupid conspiracy theory*
I swear, most of the accounts on these forums must be paid shills for GW2. Damn near every criticism comes down to "GW2 does it better."
Go play GW2 if you enjoy it more, and leave this game to those that enjoy it maybe.
I mean. GW2 does do a lot of things better. It's a fact, it's just a solid fact. GW2 especially does glamour better than XIV, that's also just a fact and commonly accepted. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it any less real. There's nothing wrong with asking for a better game.
The housing demolition should not be paused to please those who aren't willing to subscribe at the expense of those who are still paying and playing. If you don't want to play this game anymore, you don't need a limited resource anymore either. Someone else has been waiting years to get that plot.
Ain't it weird that ''review bombing'' only exist when player or big company try to defend their game. Like how hard is it for you to accept review can be negative. SE don't need you to protect them big boi.
Yeah, sure. Making someone loose their house (which is often worth more than 25-30 millions, if not much, much more) because they dared to take a break is a very good idea. Spoiler : it's not, and we all should ask for a change in this system instead of shaming people who just want to keep their house AND be able to be away from the game during 2 months. The housing demolition should not be paused to please those who aren't willing to subscribe at the expense of those who are still paying and playing. Some people have brought up WOW garrisons; I’ve never played WOW so I don’t know what they’re like, but I have played ESO. Game doesn’t require a subscription, and has a ton more options for housing, and with some differences, furniture placement works similar to this game. We’re talking apartments, townhomes with indoor and outdoor space, campsites, giant multi-building estates… while many are earnable using in-game currency, others are cash shop. SE is literally missing out on extra income by not developing an instanced housing system to supplement the ward housing we already have. How many would be willing to pay $2 a month retainer-esque fee to have a home they never have to worry about losing? I’m betting a good many with the way the lotto works. And since we pay a sub here, I’d go as far to say the first instanced home should be free and you’d only have to pay for extras, to make it fair since those of us who have their one personal residence now didn’t have to pay for it. We already pay a sub to play, we should all get to have equal access to a popular game feature.
Island Sanctuary was an instanced area, and while it was NOT housing, it showed a preview of what could be done in an instanced housing system… they just stopped short of putting an actual “house” (ie: one that is able to be decorated like the houses in the wards). But we had an open-air Cozy Cabin with accessible balconies. We had furnishing glamour that only required you to own and register one item and place it multiple times. Think of what else could be added, especially to outdoor spaces, if they didn’t have to worry about the server load of the permanently loaded ward spaces? Aside from the scarcity issue of there not being enough plots for everyone, I want to see the creativity that other games have in their housing added to the game I actually love to play.
Tldr: auto demo is only needed because there’s not enough plots to go around… that’s the issue we should be focusing on imo.
Online games need to take feedback and evolve. That's specifically why the game is what it is today. Sometimes they make good changes and sometimes they make bad changes. People have different opinions and its okay for someone want to want an aspect of XIV to be different than what it is.
It's a "limited resources" by design to keep your sub. Just like glam dresser is "limited" so you pay for retainers to hold gear
Understand that owned goods in a video game are ephemeral and life will be easier.Yeah, sure. The fact you can have cash shop items go up in smoke due to demolition is kinda inexcusable though.
I know this is a corner case, but that this is even possible is kinda insane to me.
That's real cash people put down for an ingame item.
There are other problems with the housing system too... people are pointing at other games, and rightfully so. There are things XIV could learn and improve by studying other games and how they approach this.
And I say this as a beneficiary of this system, I own a large house and my FC as a large estate too.
Doesn't mean this system isn't inherently flawed from day 1.
