They should pause houses demolition for a time

I feel like I didn't have fun with FF14 since a long time now. EW post-expansion content, and more recently Dawntrail, felt very bland to me.

I know they can provide something that I like more, they've done it before and until recently. But until we reach that point, I really feel like I could need a break, to expel that disappointing content from my mind and also to show my dissatisfaction. I know I'm far from being alone in that position.

Thing is, taking a break means losing your house(s), if you have one, that is. Usually, I'm fine with this, that's the rules. I've played every other month when they started the Zero arc and the lazy EW relic weapons because I didn't like it at all.

The problem now, is that we need to look more than two years back to find content that was unanimously acclaimed. Dawntrail got very a mixed reception, and the EW post-content expansion wasn't any better, at least in terms of story.

I'm fine being held hostage to keep my house if I'm taking a break "on purpose". But here, I feel like they're really pushing players away from the game.

Until they set back higher standards for the content that is released, I would love them to pause the housing demolition. If I take a break and lose my house in which I invested a lot of time, I probably won't come back ever gain to FFXIV.

I don't feel like being held hostage with no guarantee that the past two years where an experiment that didn't work well and that they'll go back to better standards.

Honestly, housing demolition is a double edged sword. In a perfect world, we'd just have instanced housing so everyone can have a house, I honestly don't care for having neighbors and I don't care for trying for the housing lottery

That they make it a limited resource when every other game out there has mastered the art of instanced housing for a decade, does kind of imply that they want this situation where players are held hostage by sunk cost, so that puts it back on them though.

It is not just the house, it is all the hours, days, weeks of furnishing, or if it is a small FC house, something you and your friends may have been putting work into it every day for a year to level up airships and submersibles. People will not lightly unsub if it means losing something that took a year to build up and the memories of everyone's effort for it, and will take a year of work again to get again if you should return in the future.

Sentimental tokens we can ill afford to see lost forever, matter.

I have a friend list that still includes the character of a dear friend who was taken by cancer over a year ago, and I know I can never move my character to another data center without my Friend list getting wiped, and I will never get my friend back on there.

They'll never have instanced housing because with the ward system, every occupied plot is an almost guaranteed resub to prevent the auto-demolition.

Assuming maximum capacity and an average sub fee of 15 dollary-doos per month, one data center of housing gives SE one million dollars of revenue per month.

yeah sad to see mine go but its time to go. They set up a system just like how property taxes work in real life pay or the house gets taken. blackrock would be very happy.
