Have the devs responded to Dawntrail reception?

So I found the story to be okay for the start of a new arc, and I enjoyed it, but I think my main complaint about the MSQ in DT isn't about it's characters or storylines but the fact that I think I had control of my character outside dungeons maybe for like 1 hour out of the 40 hours of cutscenes and maybe killed like 12 monsters outside of duties.

I know it's kind of a meme to make fun of people saying there were too many cutscenes but I feel like we needed more action and less talking.

Mihoyo sells 10-20 new characters a year and they grew from a small studio to a megacorp that eclipses Square Enix. If they were selling Wuk Lamats, the company would've folded in the first year lol

But really they won't say much. If the devs are good at anything, it's throwing their mistakes under the rug and just hoping the next patch makes ppl happy.

Just look at how they respond to job complaints.

I am not saying she is a master piece of a character here, and yeah you are right if they banked their entire profits around her yeah it probably would not go over well. Hopefully they have more sense. That said I did really enjoy my time in DT sure it was far from perfect I wish we had less things told to us and were able to take part more actively for one but yeah I would be lying if I said I was bored or did not enjoy the story. It is not a perfect story either, I would not even give it a high rating either but I was not expecting it to be some master piece or anything.

It was a serviceable experience that left me interested to see what happens next.

I personally agree, some of these posts feel like what they want is for Yoshi P to visit them directly, apologize and bow while giving them their money back...

A lot of that feeling has to do with two things, the fact that dis-satisfied people are more vocal and the confirmation bias of finding other people sharing that opinion in a place made for discussing (-> understand here, complaining (complaining if fine btw, I didn't write "whining")).

While in game you'd fine other people being vocal about it, like in X00 people FC, turns out it's usually a limited group of people (and that will criticize DT for any reason in my FC case -which is fine- going as far as saying the servers were better for EW release lmao).
However, when you talk to non vocal people you get to realize that most people liked the MSQ and are overall loving the post-MSQ setting of Tural compared to EW.
I wouldn't be overly worried for the devs/if I was in the dev team, people gathering this way on the forum happen every expac, and the when the next one happens you'll get the classic "but it was better before".
Like in any story you get a comedown period after a climax, so it had to be expected than the first part of DT would be chill and setting things up, which the devs have been advertising us to take laidback for a full year. Going into DT with that chill mindset, enjoying the ride, being curious about things made that whole first part unexpectedly enjoyable.



The MSQ is far from being perfect (like many, I heavily dislike Wuk Lamat), but thinking the community is in a uproar because there are complaining posts on the forum isn't worrying the devs -if they are even aware-. No matter how great something else, if you are looking for other people disliking it, you'll always find them.

This isn't about the MSQ first of all it is only optional content, but the game itself... the game itself is built to last for those that will stay long and stay subscribed most of the time to 8.0.

ALL these rabblerabblerabblerabble over the story arch is insignificant, am a long time player since 2016, if I played the game only for the MSQ's I would had been gone with HW, but it is about the game itself and community.

The story for DT was and is good I actually get to see through it all this time, where as HW uhm... too many medieval quirks, SB... Trivial tasks and a villain who is a big baby and trial it followed was much better.. SHB... uhhhm duuuuh... the first half of story was epic good but then all the Emet Selch bs came in and we allowed him to tag along instead of just dealing with once and for all... then EW... also ok stuff first half of the MSQ.... the going back in time to fix or find out things made little sense where only Meteion was a bright point.... all this about Ascians ascians and ascians... and finally having to figth Zenos again because the big baby needed his fight... should had terminated him with SB for good or in SHB.

DT is about the fellowship, and it works and there is some serious twists that hit what is happening in reality as well, people are very off when stuff go against their believes instead of what they actually know and want to learn to know, people are in a dreambubble like endless, and getting confronted with it, and it show clear in second half of DT.

That is one of the reasons it is actually quite a bit good, as with anything else some quirks and minor things I would like to have dodged, for an instance Krile is so cringe for me, Estenien makes no sense and has never done so not even in HW and the only good part about him is when you got to beat him in the Dragoon Job story.
