Oh most certainly. That other writer only did a couple of side quests for Shadowbringers, and before that wrote 2 Adult Visual Novels. That's it. That's all they've done. I'd get you the name and links for proof, but I'm at work right now and all those sites are blocked, I'm actually amazed the forums aren't blocked.

It's also possible there was executive meddling. They do have a new, younger CEO. If he pushed for a character like this either from personal preference or to try to make a new marketable character, it could explain how even the writer of solid pieces in the past may not have had a choice but to push something a higher up wanted.

That is also possibly. I mean this would have to have been approved on multiple levels though, unless we start speculating about office politics, and we do not have enough evidence to be doing that. Yet.

Game is good, probably the best it's been since Stormblood. Actually engaging non-boring fights and promising battle content, not to mention crafting and gathering both got some pretty nice stuff. Only bad part is the MSQ, but the MSQ is the least relevant aspect of the game in the grand scheme of things - You can have the best MSQ possible but once it's done it's done, and if you don't have engaging end-game content in a MMO people won't keep playing, and a dead MMO is a bad MMO.

My brother in christ the MSQ is what sells the game, FFXIV is the most casual MMO in the market, why do you think CBU3 keeps homogenizing and dumbing down the jobs? So a baby could play it, last year people were bitching because some cool cosmetics were locked behind savage content instead of being in the mogstore. Lol
