From what it looks in this forum, it's the same ~10 to 15 people that hardcore-rage about this.

May seem significant because these people are very active but REAL outrage about something looks entirely different. If the masses were discontented, this forum would be set ablaze.

It isn't, so by and large, the update was a success. This greatly diminishes the chance for further changes to happen, as any change now would risk upsetting people that are content.

Personally, I only would like 2 additions:
-less shiny lips option
-less cloudy pupils option for keepers

Doubt it will ever happen though.

Both the Japanese thread and the main English thread (despite the latter having restarted at least twice) have a very long list of how many posters have replied to the thread. It's not just a small number of people doing all the posting.

Not everyone that replies to the thread is discontent though. The primary purpose of a forum is still discussion.

Not everyone, but the vast majority of people who are posting are doing it because they are unhappy.

Even if it was 50-50 and not heavily weighted towards complaints, it would still be well more than "ten to fifteen people" complaining.

The only REAL forum outrage I have witnessed in my gaming career was the Real-ID fiasko back in the old WoW days.
The forums were literally unusable and Blizzard banned people left and right.

THAT was real community discontent. Result? Blizzard backpedaled pretty quickly and Real-ID never saw the light of day in it's intended form.

Out of curiosity, what is your…I guess, end goal here? Like, what outcome are you looking for overall? You’ve been really adamant about downplaying peoples concerns and feedback and trying to portray it as insignificant. You’re making claims about metrics neither you nor I have any access to. I don’t know the actual number of people that are upset with the character updates. You don’t know either. I doubt even the developers could possibly know. All your arguments are just based off anecdotal observations. It doesn’t make sense to make so many claims with confidence without data to back it.

I’m wondering if you’re saying these things because you feel defensive about something? Like maybe you like how your character looks in 7.0 and are worried that if you don’t try to downplay others feedback you might lose something you’re now attached to? If that’s right, or it’s something else maybe you could share your real feelings and we could discuss that instead, constrictively? Look for common ground? There’s room for everyone to share how they feel and what they want without arguing with others or trying to diminish others. Fights on the internet never resolve anything ever after all and the devs will make their own decisions.

Your "metric" for determining how many people are upset is just as flawed as your determination of how many people are satisfied, this is not an argument

Speaking strictly mathematically:

-The general probability of a customer complaining is several times higher than said customer to utter praise. This goes for everything from shop to product reviews to changes in a game like this.

-The forum population is comprised of the more hardcore audience, most players do not bother with out of game resources at all.

Those two factors alone skew everything and anything into the area of complaints and negativity, as far as forums are concerned.

So even if you see a real 50/50 split in a forum like this, that does not mean half the playerbase is unhappy with the models.
The sample this forum provides is not representative at all.

If you are lucky, the EN community representative will pick up on the issue. But I can guarantee you that a threat with a whiny title like this one will NOT get their attention. Besides: detailed feedback has already been given during the benchmark phase. SE incorporated quite a bit of it.

It stands to reason that not every feedback (even if valid) will be incorporated, simply because the designers may disagree with it. Ultimately it is THEIR game and THEIR vision that matters. Not ours. *shrug*

This is not an open source project. The only way to get your EXACT vision into any game is ... modding. Forbidden in XIV's case, obviously, but anything else WILL be a compromise.

Whether it is a compromise that you can live with or not: only you can decide that.

What I would like, I have already written:
- an option to make Ifalnas lips less shiny. She doesn't use lipstick/gloss, never has.
- an option for less cloudy / darker Keeper pupils.

Probability of SE humoring my request: I am under no illusion, it's most likely 0.

As for your demands: I stated multiple times that I am fine with SE adding a ton of other options. More options = more diversity ingame = a good thing.
What I definitely do NOT want: what the thread title demands: a reversion to the old models. The new ones are simply better. Especially for posing.

There is no doubt that there are many more dissatisfied AND satisfied people than actually sign up to this forum
Out of myself and friends ingame that are unhappy with it, I'm the only one here and speaking out for them- every one of us here is a microcosm of the bigger picture

And just so you don't get the wrong idea, this place isn't just "a forum". This isn't Reddit where you sit there discussing things with strangers for upvotes.
This is the only official place where we have to give feedback as an individual, this is all we have to portray our mood about an update to SE officially so they can understand. This is all we have.
