I honestly don't know what they were thinking. I just did a 90 trial on it and it honestly feels like wading through molasses now. There is practically zero flexibility. Extremely disappointed. Did they even playtest this?

I feel like they're play testing on people who play Fortnite or Elden Ring, not actual MMO players.
And it's a certified dumpster fire. The JP thread has 303 pages and the latest comments are hating on it.
They've been hating on it since page 270, it's like their mini version of our healer thread :<
Well it's time for the dev team to prove what they say and make speedy adjustments since there is clear and obvious consensus with particular elements of the rework that no one asked for.
This isn't my first rodeo with issues like this- while DT BLM is literally the worst state I've seen BLM be in, in terms of gameplay, BLM also had severe issues in 4.0 (and, to a lesser extent, 3.0). In both of those situations, the issue were that the timers were too short (AF was originally 10s). In both cases, issues were addressed on the .05 patch. I'd honestly brace myself to endure this for a couple of months.
I wasn't around yet for the initial Stormblood "point-oh" release but good to know they'll listen to player complaints EVENTUALLY, IN THEORYThis isn't my first rodeo with issues like this- while DT BLM is literally the worst state I've seen BLM be in, in terms of gameplay, BLM also had severe issues in 4.0 (and, to a lesser extent, 3.0). So, IN THEORY I might reconsider resubscribing, but for now, this just feels too gross. These concerns were raised as far in advance as the devs made the new builds accessible and largely dismissed with an "eh, you'll get used to it", it's not like they didn't know how most BLM-enjoyers were going to feel about this ahead of time, and The Canonical Tale of 1.0 ---> ARR notwithstanding, this seems to be a trap this company walks itself into over and over again when it becomes successful enough, and will continue to. And it's a shame, but for me, there's really only one way to respond to that (esp. since i don't even find the new story worth seeing through)
( Incidentally, if you've been around since HW, props for not turning into one of those jaded people who reacts to complaints like those in this thread with "first time? lmao" )
After reading all these pages. I'm still stuck on "my job is boring, yours should be too" as a completely wild stance to take on am mmo. You're not happy with your job and celebrating lobotomizing one of the few that still didn't put you to sleep?
Couple of months is a win imo. I do not want to hear wait until 8.0. Nah, I'd like to undo this abomination at the earliest convenience. This isn't my first rodeo with issues like this- while DT BLM is literally the worst state I've seen BLM be in, in terms of gameplay, BLM also had severe issues in 4.0 (and, to a lesser extent, 3.0). A central thread highlighting the issues is probably going to be helpful. I thought this thread could be hit, but this is a thread from before DT launched, so we might need a new one. I know some people are really talking down the healer strike thread, but this type of thread/negative feedback has worked, historically. In fact, in 4.0, there was a BLM feedback megathread too (very negative, I might add), and it did get fixed.
My faith in the XIV team is much lower now than it was then, but I think we need to give it a fair shot.
I'm honestly waiting for the first few clears of the Extreme trials so I have some data to throw weight behind the complaints. I'll probably collect some historical data from 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0 extremes too, just to have a baseline (an apt comparison, because while BLM was strong in 5.0, it was weak in 4.0 and 6.0). I don't know if they'll revert any of the core changes and just settle for some potency buffs, but I feel we (the BLM playerbase) should at least try.
I guess I get to enjoy Picto in the meantime...
(ARR beta, actually- nothing good comes from that attitude, if someone gives up then it's really unsub time, but there are still things I enjoy in the game. Thank you for the kind words, either way :> )
Can't get behind this idea enough. I probably have even less faith in the development team than you do but I figure if mass forum complaints from EN and JP aren't enough to get CBU3 to at least acknowledge that there is a problem, then the direction of job design in this game is truly lost and not for me, and I'd imagine a good number of 6.0 BLM mains feel a similar way. I would just like to know whether I should spend my time and money elsewhere.
