    I want FFXIV to be party play, but i do not want it to be like FFXI, something similar is ok, but turning FFXIV to a time-sink game is no fun.

    so both polls are biased and stupid.

    FF11 is not ff11 anymore, how many times do we have to tell you people that.

    As much as I personally would love a FFXI-2 with all the flaws taken out and updated graphics I think it'd be hard for SE to target new players; the general audience nowadays needs a model like FFXIV which's now the norm, the game is more accessible to all types of gamers when all you need to worry about is finishing the new content and getting your drops.

    In essence the only thing I can hope for in 2.0 is that battles are more FFXI styled, all they need to do is make it so that you can solo things without dying and gain exp but having a full party take down something alot higher leveld will give more exp\better drops, couple that with the movement and positioning system we presently have and I'd be content.

    Also as a passing mention, while I would actually like FFXI-2 and agree with most points in that first post, your poll is undeniably biased which I'm afraid rather invalidates the results; not to mention it's too late for this game to make such a drastic overhaul. I'd suggest remaking the thread with individual ponts comparing FFXIV and FFXI's way of doing things, at least that'd have a chance of being considered and we can get some real numbers.

    Uh... All of them (excepting XI and XIV )
    You see in the console games The "party" existed solely for narrative purposes and one player controlled all party members, they could have given every skill to just one charcter and the overall combat would only marginally change, but the story would be greatly hampered. It's not like a second player could jump in and take control of one of the other party members, making the previous Final Fantasis the very definition of "solo" play.

    I think this post is presented in a bias manner. I hope it's not considered.

    I like how it's a decently even split with slight favor to FFXI-2.

    Because I like that.

    Off Topic: lol this thread is hilarious /popcorn on

    On Topic: A couple things to keep in mind:

    1. Numbers do not always mean a game is good. An example of this would be SE's own Final Fantasy 13, which sold many copies but considered a failure even in SE's eyes. Just because other MMO's have alot of people does not necessarily make them good games it just means they happen to have alot of subscriptions at the time, which can be influenced by alot of things. SE as a business would like those subscriptions though and I can understand having things a bit more casual and easier to pick up, but it shouldn't be so casual that you can level all of your battle classes to max in less than a month.

    2. This is a Final Fantasy MMO it should draw heavily on other Final Fantasy games first and foremost above anything else, which includes 11 whether people like it or not. I'm not saying it shouldn't bring things in from other games, I'm just saying if they are drawing in from other MMO's FF11 should have the most influence. With that being said, I also don't think this game should be a very similar copy of it with a new storyline and better graphics SE tried that once before, it was called Final Fantasy 12 and at least imo it sucked. The game I think should be a mix of various MMO influences shifted slightly more towards the FFXI side than anything. Problem is on these forums you tend to get people who want only 11 stuff or only other stuff and everybody else that wants somewhere in between tends to get ignored because the other two sides are too busy causing huge uproars over stupid things like anima.

    Sorry for the long post

    Welp we're nearing the 2nd day of voting and we're got a decent set of results for the first 24 hours.

    A near split down the center slightly favoring a more FFXI flavored MMO with a large group of no-contention voters who want a mixture between the two.

    Honestly I suppose the poll would have benefited from a 3rd option but not much we can do now. Please bare in mind two things however.

    A: This is a poll for us players. I have no ambitions that this little thread is going to change the course of FFXIV and the devs will begin rescripting based on the votes. This is for *US* players right now. A means of measuring how many people want a new game and how many players want them to stick to the traditional set up of FFXI. So the next time someone says, "Well a majority of the subscribers would want this..." there is some rough estimate how far out of his ass he is talking.

    B: Tails. The Roegadyn really need tails. You should {Help us out!} by clicking the hotlink below to an even LONGER thread about things people will argue about on the internets.

    ~~~DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW FAST YOU WERE SCROLLING?~~~
    Don't forget to check out the Tail Option Thread. Vote for a brighter future for all Roegadyns!
    I think people voted for the second because they didn't want the first to succeed and make it look like we want FFXI-2.
    Rokien you're just silly and I don't want to describe it any other way, you want a party play game but your ridiculous belief is that the only way to get it is to railroad people who want the ability to level solo or finish minor quests solo.
    You Are the guy who stacks 75s, sits in Juno or Aht Urghan and gets his entertainment from making what you think are witty comments to what you think are female players. I know that now for an almost certainty.
    I actually agree that every Mmo should be party based, but I should also be able to soak in some face time developing my hero solo, or villain if I want, there's still something called "rpg" attached to the genre. I shouldn't need a team to kill field rabble, I should need a team to kill the Hundreds of branding mobs from the FF series. Squall could take out most field enemies by himself until you get to the engage phase. In fact most all of ff main characters could solo passes the 2nd game, so that argument doesn't really work.
    XI barely had a pulse, XIV is it's zombie. You should be asking SE to make a game that strikes the market and provides what you desire in the form of more meaningful challenges. Be honest, do you want to fight random stupid looking raptors and wolves? Or would you like to explore lands infested with marlborols ( always misspell that ) tonberries, maybe take out nms and hnms, fight in deep dungeon style raids or groups like the planned crystal tower that frankly sounds amazing?
    Again, the market speaks for itself. Swtor sold a lot of boxes boasting its ability to make the mmorpg gamer feel truly heroic, it lost a lot of subscribers failing to actually make a fluid system of endgame, though it has still more active players than XIV..
    Don't let your boyfriend (SE) abuse you anymore, stand up, come outside and see that today's technology and programming mixed with yesterday's writing and imagination is key to saving this game, put away your odd draconian rule book which was really pilfered from eq and Ultima somewhat poorly, and accept that hardly any gamers want that crap in their games and you probably don't either.
    I bet if XIV was sitting on 2 million active players, there would have been 1 exp pack, and 2 more planned by now, we would be arguing about rumors regarding new races and jobs as opposed to how to help SE fix their broken concepts. The time spent ingame would be more meaningful, link shells would be abustle with chatter and drama, people would be cranking away at trying to get into crystal tower groups or other raids etc.
    With post and vote number one NONE OF WHAT I JUST DESCRIBED WILL EVER COME TRUE! Look at reality for what it is. The economy is busted, people are depressed just watched a video of a man beating a pregnant woman for 50 dollars! You think someone wants to login to a game where they get beaten by foolish concepts for 9 a month while the real world does that to them daily and worse? Think again buster.
