I’d love for existing races to have different body types befitting their race- this would make it less resource intensive to include more options for players. To implement this, we could get new subraces

Examples would be- Slender hrothgar sharing with Highlanders, Elezen and Midlander sharing body type models (as they already do), female aura and miqote and male aura and Viera, to name a few.

(Sorry Lalas, there are too few short races for the time being… here’s hoping to ishgardian Moogles some day)

The concept of all the characters in FFXIV is that they have to meet the A-shaped skeleton (I'm not kidding) which is a problem in itself if they try to make a new body type for characters that don't meet this condition because otherwise it would just be a cosmetic change that wouldn't change the shape.
This in itself is a problem because of the amount of things that can be put on glamour or dress up a character.
And just for example Vierra is a wonderful attempt to change a little something and it didn't work out well because there is no official fix to use all kinds of headwear.
Adding a completely new race to the game is much more realistic.
I'm sorry. Anyway, I'm all for it. If there's any way to do it.

Also, body types don't exist because bodies don't really exist. Gear replaces your char models when worn. They'd have to redo every single gear model to do this.

Not against this but you'd get weird things like racial emotes and gear now being tied to body types instead. Most of the frankensteined NPCs don't have them.

I mean, sure, they’d have to do a bit of footwork to adjust emotes & facial animations slightly but nothing like a whole new race

Yes, they mentioned in a live letter they’ve made it easier to create/ adjust new gear.
As a male viera myself, I’m hoping this is just a temporary thing, and we can look forward to new things and not get bogged down by previous limitations
