Show your support- More body types

I’d love for existing races to have different body types befitting their race- this would make it less resource intensive to include more options for players. To implement this, we could get new subraces

Examples would be- Slender hrothgar sharing with Highlanders, Elezen and Midlander sharing body type models (as they already do), female aura and miqote and male aura and Viera, to name a few.

(Sorry Lalas, there are too few short races for the time being… here’s hoping to ishgardian Moogles some day)

Not against this but you'd get weird things like racial emotes and gear now being tied to body types instead. Most of the frankensteined NPCs don't have them.

I wish the game had more body types. It does feel a bit dated that every member of every race has the exact same build and BMI, etc.

That said, I don't think the devs have the bandwidth to do this in a way that would meaningfully address that issue. It takes them a huge lift just to add a single new body type, because their systems and pipelines just aren't made in a way that makes that manageable. I think for FF14, that ship has sailed. FF14 got off to a terrible start that forced them to scramble to build an entirely new game, and while that game has been able to continue, it's clear that it's built on a rushed foundation that makes enhancing and adding functionality a far larger burden than it needs to be. FF14 has an amount of technical debt that I don't think it will ever recover from, and that limits its scope.

That said, I hope that in the next FF MMO they do a much more thorough job in the planning stages so that the core infrastructure of the game is better suited to be able to handle these sorts of things and so much more.
