what kind of new systems at launch would you like?

a lot of new systems are later so that noone has to feel pressured to rush through the story or lvling, it's also why savage is put on hold so people can enjoy themselves. course that is solely for end game content systems.

i will say some things do come in the expansion launch like the shared fate system, at least when its was originally introduced now its just like hunts something extra attached to the launch that is nice but not something players are super hyped for.

I think the issue is what is considered systems in your definition. Changing the blacklist, adding in facegear, fantasia changes, etc. are all system changes. They might not be systems you interact with, but they are system changes nonetheless. It wasn't really focused on, but the facegear changes piqued my interests. From what I gathered, it doesn't require the glamour dresser. It seems like once you get the item, you can use it for the slot. If that's the case, that seems like it's setting the foundation for doing it similar to how WoW does their transmog, which would be a huge change for quite a number of people.

I think by systems, you are meaning Do* changes. This might certainly be light in your opinion, and I can see where you are coming from. However, as a developer, I'm sure you can see the benefit of having tradeoffs sometimes where you put a bunch of resources into clearing out tech debt / upgrading components to allow for future changes.

Admittedly my definitions may not be widely shared. For reference, I think of the game being:

Systems: the types of data the game has and the rules the determine how it can be manipulated.
Content: instances of things that interact with systems.
UI/UX: the UI controls that allow the user to interact with the systems and see their state.

You're right, the dual dye capability would be a new system as would the face slot. The blacklist and Fantasia changes are also system updates, though firmly in the QoL bucket, though with extremely limited content built around them.

I guess my problem with two of those marquee features are that I don't want to interact with the Blacklist system. If I am, something went badly. And Fantasia costing money means I'm not going to interact with it except very, very rarely -- same with the updates to the Mobile App, which isn't a system, but is new UI.

Not something you said, but jobs under these definitions would be content that interacts with different systems. A new job might be introduced with new systems, but they themselves, are content.

And lastly, to your tech debt point, I guess I don't have any real confidence that they're going to tackle their large backlog of technical debt because they've shown very little desire to update deeply integrated systems. Apparently, they've wanted to do something about the class/job system for a while. And the glamour system. I think they want to do something with the GC Squadrons and GCs, in general.

But it seems like when they do start evaluating these bigger systems, they just realize it's going to be too much work. But by that logic it will never be done. WoW had their painful rework during Cataclysm and ARR was kind of like that, but it was more an entirely new game given how many systems were updated. Cataclysm had a lot of problems, but also cleared the way for a lot of ambitious ideas.

There are parts of the community that are very upset with the slow pace of system and content updates. I present the current EN forums as evidence. I'm not angry, just disappointed. I wish they went faster and took more chances.
