No Blitzball :(

That's FFX-2's Blitzball in a nutshell and was a pale knock-off from the more engaged system from FFX. FFX-2 Blitzball has been criticized at inception from what I recall. I'm sorry but I really do not want resources be put into that.

If ever, it should actually be an engaging activity, but therein lies the problem - without the right structure + replayability (i.e. reason to keep people playing) it will be dead on arrival if not a few weeks after - which is exactly why Yoshida does not want to develop it. The risk for this is way too significant, especially if you want a more fleshed out version of Blitzball.

I'm kind of the same. It's really disappointing that there will be no blitzball, but honestly if it was the version from x-2 and not the version from x where you actively played, I would probably not even touch it. I don't think there's much point in a simulation minigame that you can only watch playout.

Sadly, if they created a active minigame it just might wind up never getting enough players to work out. Really sad outcome.

I'm guessing they learned their lesson from Lord of Verminion, which is probably the closest thing to Blitzball they've put in the game.

I think a big part of that was that Verminion stinks. It's not a good game and they haven't really put a lot of resources into it. You can certainly do more with your minions than FFXIV does. WoW basically has Pokemon-lite and I think that's been a resounding success.

To be fair, that kind of game is super niche and probably stresses out most rpg fans lol. Now if it was something like a tactical RPG akin to FFT/Tristrat...

But sad that Blitzball won't be a thing - this would have been the perfect opportunity to implement a nice fun lighthearted minigame into the mix. It needs to be something that many people can easily get into without having to rely on multiple modes to keep it fresh
