I'm really disappointed and sad that Yoshi-P announced that they will never implement Blitzball, because they don't want to spend time developing something maby noone wants to play.
Even though they already have a lot of experience creating stuff in the golden saucer that nearly noone touches.
And considering that the amount of voluntary side content is advertised as one of FFXIV'S strengths.
If they chose to implement Blitzball, it wouldn't need to be a fancy revamped version. The old version was good enough.
So for me, I would just be super happy if they just implemented a football manager styled minigame where you managed your teams stats, formation, levels and skills that you could send out against other teams while you do other stuff. And with a possibility to spectate the game.
Blitzball would fit with Dawntrail's inspiration to aztec society as they had a ballgame, and since Dawntrail also has allusions to FFX.
And considering they hinted to something Blitzball in the Hildibrand quests and that they had considered for a long time how they could implement Blitzball, I'm really surprised by Yoshi-P's announcement.
And I'm surprised that Blitzball has gotten so much hate from both the FFXIV community and Yoshi-P.
And I may never get my answer, but atleast I loved Blitzball from FFX and I think it would be a really nice addition to FFXIV as a manager styled minigame.
So I choose to still wait, even if it takes 10+ years, I'll be here ❤️
I hope that others feel the same and that our wishes reach the developers.
