    There's a giant gaping lore issue with giving Banish and Scourge to White Mage. I realize you may feel lore is irrelevant, and believe me, I don't actually like what happened to CON and THM when WHM and BLM were reconciled with them....

    But unless they make WHM THM's advanced class, and BLM CON's advanced class, and totally redesign the base classes, they can't really do what you're suggesting.

    At least right now only THM's lore was mangled.

    More importantly, as numerous people have already stated, blizzard and fire magic are near worthless for dealing damage anyways, so there needs to be quite a large overhaul to BLM's existing spells before this could even become relevant.

    Oh and... how about that 15 ability per class limit? Sure you could replace Aero and Stone with Banish and Scourge, but what THM abilities would you replace with Aero and Stone?

    I'd remove the 15 limit on the classes cause it just limits the god damn game to not being fun.

    Considering they just implemented this system, I don't think it's going anywhere. It made the game better overall, honestly, some of the decisions they made are just frustrating, but understandable given the box they had designed themselves into, particularly with THM and CON.

    Not that this really addresses any of the other issues with why BLM won't get them with the current system.

    And when the hell did Versatility become "Overpowered"?

    If Whm can cure and DD, I want black mage to be able to DD on any target, why the hell is that considered Overpowered?

    I like that mobs are 'attuned' to a certain element, and therefore weaker against some while stronger against others - or even neutral.

    I skimmed over a lot of this "rabble"... However, as other people have already mentioned in this (and other) threads, the elemental skills available to BLM and WHM in this game have been seen in other FF games. I loved lots of stuff about XI (and, to be fair, disliked some too), but just because BLM (and WHM) aren't a nearly-exact carbon-copy of how they were in XI doesn't mean "OMG THEY NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!"

    I can't speak for all, but I seem to remember that a lot of BLMs on my old XI server really only put merits into thunder/ice/fire spells (e.g., ele-potencies, etc.). Clearly they must have felt that their tier-IV thuder/ice/fire spells were weaker than thier tier-IV wind/water/stone spells... clearly... Good thing there wasn't a full elemental wheel in that game... er, wait.. o.O

    To be perfectly fair... the only reason that was the case was that due to the tiering system, Fire/Ice/Thunder were stronger because they were "higher" level spells. And in XI damage equations did not scale with level.

    (I.E. it's not as if the playerbase felt that these elements were inherently more "Black Mage.")
