The general XIV community is a cult, and Yoshi P, without his consent, has been pushed into being their figurehead. Of course anything that goes against the idea of "my game is perfect" is going to upset people. It's crazy. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I genuinely believe the XIV community is the most toxic community I've ever been a part of.

I don't believe the FF14 community is toxic per se. I think it's just the least mentally well-adjusted community.

No I don't think that is it. My experience over the years is the community is much like any online community gaming or not...A mixed bag. Online just gives the normally more timid a the safe anonymity so they are not afraid to say the part they leave unsaid in real life.

From all gaming communities I've been around through out my many many years of different MMOs I can say that to me, the FFXIV sure is something else, for better and worse.

I disagree with it being toxic. It's annoying sure, but there is far worse communities out there.
There is way too much positivity and the game being perfect going around, but again i just find that annoying, not toxic.

There's such a disdain from the general casual side towards raiders that's just... weird. And it goes both ways, for sure.

But it gets bad, imo, when you have players in duties asking for help with their job. "How do I do this, how do I do that," only to get met with "oh you don't have to worry about that." So there's someone clearly wanting to learn, being told that it doesn't matter unless they're looking into higher end content. You've got people making the statement "this part is bad for X job because Y" only to get met with "so? this isn't savage." There's such a dismissal around actually getting better and improving that I've genuinely never seen from any other community, ever.

Those examples aside, look at the reaction when a bunch of WoW players started coming over. "Oh no the WoW players are coming, they're gonna make my community so much more toxic now." People hated that players were coming over from WoW. And now you see it again with XBOX players. There's a general hate towards XBOX players. And yet you see people going on and on and on about how inclusive, accepting the XIV community is. I dunno what they're smoking but I want some of it, because I certainly don't see what they're seeing.

I hate cheaters, generally groups in PF and "raiders" cheat. By extension I hate raiders.

Xbox players are fine though, no reason to be upset at them for anything but making your leveling roulette be brayflox for the 5uy2935u32908htuaiwehgf789w time
