Really not surprised by the amount of toxic positivity in this thread.

Never said that everyone needs to unsub, or that you CAN'T like these changes, just that if you DON'T like them to NOT buy the game, but big surprise people don't read.
I say this because some people feel married to their MMOs and others feel like they HAVE to raid or HAVE to play cause all their friends do. If you are unhappy it is reasonable to not spend your money.

It's your time, your money, spend it the way you want and don't let anyone take that from you.

Plot twist: the forums loop around toxic positivity, but the overwhelming majority of threads are criticism. There's more toxic negativity than toxic positivity on this site, it's just that as soon as anyone dares to defend the game in the slightest it immediately goes off into tirades about the ‘sheep’ who defend the big companies.

People liking the game isn't toxic positivity - it's just positivity. I know it's weird, but most people actually like the games that they play (or they go play other games).

If you don't like the job changes like I do, then refund your Dawn trail pre-orders. Send a message to the team that we are not happy with the changes being made to FFXIV's combat.

If I could not pay for later expansions and keep playing the older versions of these jobs I would but sadly CBU3 does not want to make legacy servers so I will just have to leave this game until it becomes better and I suggest you do the same!

I am a big fan of the "vote with your wallet" mentality, as it's the only thing that gets SE's attention.

I am usually super empathetic toward the dev team having been here so long, but the job changes feel absolutely minimal and underwhelming and "well we focused on graphical updates this time" is not a good enough response to me. The graphical updates should have been a separate project team that was fully funded, while the main team worked on a FULL expansion.

I am separating out the dev team and the corporation as a whole though, Square Enix continues to take money from the FFXIV cash cow and invest it into other projects that are by and large failing. We have evidence of this in YOUR very own stakeholder/investor calls.

Stop making the FFXIV dev team spread themselves thin having to prioritize a graphical update, versus the content we usually get in an expansion.

It is incredibly underwhelming we're going to have to wait until 8.0 to get job identity back when we've been providing that feedback consistently for years.

They didn't say that job changes were minimal because of the graphics update, or that content was being reduced in any way. In fact we are slated to get far more content in DT then in any expansion ever before. The job changes are small because they are focusing on CONTENT being more difficult first. Not because of the graphics update. Separate teams.

Let's not forget that:

1. FFXIV was built using profits from other games,
2. FFXIV v1.0 was a complete failure, and
3. FFXIV was rebuilt as ARR using profits from other games.

Using profits from a current product to build new products is normal.
That not all those new products are successful is also normal.
And this is not going to change, so you might want to consider just accepting it.

The difference is FF14 literally saved SE from going bankrupt, specifically the ARR/Heavensward turn around from the 1.0 failure. SE were literally riding high the past decade off of the back of FF14 brining in the cash and they clearly haven't been re investing back into it.

that isnt exactly anything new in the gaming world. Blizzard printed their own money for years with WoW and didnt reinvest exactly a ton of it back into the game. other companies have done the same thing.. unless they are a single game stable, which isnt the best thing to be.

Cancel if you want, but you'll come back when you realize the grass isn't always greener on the other side. When you get bored of the new 1000+ hour game you pick up, when you blindly play other games so terrible they make this game look good, or the nagging feeling of returning grows too loud to ignore.
