Really not surprised by the amount of toxic positivity in this thread.

Never said that everyone needs to unsub, or that you CAN'T like these changes, just that if you DON'T like them to NOT buy the game, but big surprise people don't read.
I say this because some people feel married to their MMOs and others feel like they HAVE to raid or HAVE to play cause all their friends do. If you are unhappy it is reasonable to not spend your money.

It's your time, your money, spend it the way you want and don't let anyone take that from you.

Plot twist: the forums loop around toxic positivity, but the overwhelming majority of threads are criticism. There's more toxic negativity than toxic positivity on this site, it's just that as soon as anyone dares to defend the game in the slightest it immediately goes off into tirades about the ‘sheep’ who defend the big companies.

im just astonished in a really bad way that people actually have to JUSTIFY why they want to play dawntrial. like its some kind of cardinal sin to still enjoy the other 99% of the game that DOESNT revolve around job design

It's not just job design though- of the big announcements so far you have jobs, the graphics rework and the setting/plot, and so far are all polarizing at best. I've been deliberately holding off on preordering so I can send a clear positive signal for something I like, but rn it just seems like they've made everything slightly worse.

If you don't like the job changes like I do, then refund your Dawn trail pre-orders. Send a message to the team that we are not happy with the changes being made to FFXIV's combat.

If I could not pay for later expansions and keep playing the older versions of these jobs I would but sadly CBU3 does not want to make legacy servers so I will just have to leave this game until it becomes better and I suggest you do the same!

I am a big fan of the "vote with your wallet" mentality, as it's the only thing that gets SE's attention.

I am usually super empathetic toward the dev team having been here so long, but the job changes feel absolutely minimal and underwhelming and "well we focused on graphical updates this time" is not a good enough response to me. The graphical updates should have been a separate project team that was fully funded, while the main team worked on a FULL expansion.

I am separating out the dev team and the corporation as a whole though, Square Enix continues to take money from the FFXIV cash cow and invest it into other projects that are by and large failing. We have evidence of this in YOUR very own stakeholder/investor calls.

Stop making the FFXIV dev team spread themselves thin having to prioritize a graphical update, versus the content we usually get in an expansion.

It is incredibly underwhelming we're going to have to wait until 8.0 to get job identity back when we've been providing that feedback consistently for years.

Square, invest the majority of my sub dollars in this game.

Cancel if you want, but you'll come back when you realize the grass isn't always greener on the other side. When you get bored of the new 1000+ hour game you pick up, when you blindly play other games so terrible they make this game look good, or the nagging feeling of returning grows too loud to ignore.

I'm debating buying it. I won't pre-order it because only a complete idiot pre-orders digital products. It's not like they're going to run out of stock. But the promise of another exploration zone like Eureka and Bozja still has me interested, despite the job changes being absolute dogwater and the overall game direction showing no signs of improvement whatsoever.

Actually for EW some places did run out of product keys and then it was so popular they paused sales. Won't happen again but there is no difference in me buying it now vs a week after launch. I'm playing it either way, I enjoy what's coming and other people's opinion on if the expac is good or not will not change my choice on whether to buy or not.

People liking the game isn't toxic positivity - it's just positivity. I know it's weird, but most people actually like the games that they play (or they go play other games).

No. And to put a positive spin on this sea of negative criticism that is the forum at the moment :

- I still like a lot of the class designs. The dps are nice, quite unique in their genre. Although I'm less enthusiastic about the changes to healers, some of them actually seem very good (removal of the rng on the Ast, to be seen of course).
- The game continues to be generous, with the ability to appeal to casual, midcore and hardcore players, which is a challenge in itself.
- Although the content of the old expansions could do with a facelift, the fact that it's still alive and kicking is a huge achievement (and one that doesn't get enough recognition).
- The game continues to be sound in its mechanics, with no abusive rng that can't be compensated for.
- I'm absolutely delighted that the Scions aren't being thrown out, but also that the stakes seem to be lowered a little.

I'm looking forward to DT.

Tanks and healers all play the same, with a very bare gameplay. Multiple dps jobs have been dumbed down to oblivion.

And how is the game gerous pray tell. There's no variety in midcore content (criterion should have had more iterations so far) and hardcore content gets one ultimate every expansion...

They didn't say that job changes were minimal because of the graphics update, or that content was being reduced in any way. In fact we are slated to get far more content in DT then in any expansion ever before. The job changes are small because they are focusing on CONTENT being more difficult first. Not because of the graphics update. Separate teams.

Why does everyone keep assuming I've stayed subbed to the game? I JUST resubbed last month to catch up, I've been gone since 6.3.

Realistically so am I, I usually "pre order" on the day the game comes out, but I promise I am going to complain the entire time.

So you'll be pre-ordering the expansion after all, like everyone else. If you're not actually waiting for the reviews before spending your money then there's no difference whether you pre-order on launch day or now and you're not exactly in a position to be calling others idiots. Hope you enjoy the new patch!
