This combined with sunk cost fallacy. People can't help themselves. I've seen the same people complaining about the same things for YEARS, and they'll never leave. Which hey, it's their money, so fair enough.
I'm reserving my judgement for 7.1 since that's the PvP patch. If they still fail to give proper rewards to grind for in PvP I'm out. If 8.0 does major rework for the PvE side I might sub again.

Let me respond to your comment with something I said about 8months ago. The graphics overhaul was not more important than making 60%^ of the jobs engaging/fun to play, it's a massive miss play to waste an entire Expacs dev budget on graphics when we play zoomed out 90% of the time, the real issue in the game is the gutting of most of the jobs and lack of job identity.so ofc with DT on the literal horizon line, a slew of threads and posts complaining that the game isnt doing enough to cater to them. look. naoki yoshida explained why he wont be tackling job homogenization until after 7.0
the reality is its simply to much of a massive overhaul to make the combat different and increase difficulty. the potential bad reaction from players especially the casual 80% or so could put the whole conversation into indefinite suspension.
I understand that 90% of you here will not be satisfied with this answer. but i don't think your actually taking the time to think about the impact on the game as a whole. you, we, all of us NEED these casual players. they fill our fcs, make our roulettes pop, they talk to us in NN or become our friends, they help us glamour farm and keep the pf alive with always needing something else.
i really dont think for 5 minutes that anybody here has gone unheard. we wanted the game harder, and while we dont have much. from what we can see its gona be harder... so why isnt this a win? why isnt 1 small step enough? i can only imagine how hard it must be having to make some of the decisions he does.
but i just keep seeing so many people here, unhappy with the game, and taking joy in the idea that 80% of the players might quit when things get to different. instead of them just leaving themselves if THEY are unhappy, which given all the complaints. they seem to be.
Roleplaying game..... I'm sorry my dude but you're late to the party they killed all the RPG elements like 2-3 expacs ago and now they are doubling down on that decision. You have more than one button to push.
This isn't an action game. It's a role-playing game where combat is just one of many activities.
It's rather ironic that this game actually has more buttons you need to push than most action games and yet you pretend there is only one button to push.
Roleplaying game would imply we have stats and builds we can do, O wait they removed stat allocation didn't they.
Multiple weaponskill combo paths that had different effects meaning you could switch you rotation about so you're not just pressing the same 3 buttons for 5m of a fight, what's that the players like that, well of course that means you should yeet it into the sun, smart move dev team.
O no the tanks had their mitigation sources baked into those weaponskill paths that you yeeted, maybe we should add them back in or do some mechanics to the class for the mitigation? What's that, O you're just going to give all the tanks the same 4 OGCD buff mitigation buttons. I thought you said you removed the weaponskills because of button bloat..... Sorry your right that sounds like effort, I'll go wait in the corner while you delete stuff.
How about having a resource that DPS would manage the same way Magic classes balance mana, no wait don't be silly that sounds like engagement, into the sun with you too.
How about things like cross class skills so you carry abilities from one job to the next, O wait they killed that idea too.
What about the holy trinity, or as the devs call it blue dps, green dps, red dps.
FF14 is not an RPG it's an MMO, the distinction being over a decade ago the genre went from being MMORPG's where the games were RPG's but you played it in a persistent world. To being MMO's where there's a thin scent of an RPG looking in this general direction but it's really just a persistent world game.
Also that other guy might not be being hyperbolic, play a Drk under level 40 content, you press unleash for the entire fight

People here are acting like complete mental cases. They'll all still be there playing though, alongside the 24 million players who don't even know the address of this forum. You have more than one button to push.

I'm a sucker that pre ordered so I'll play for the first week complete the story just to get my money out of it then unsub, 3 expac of crap is enough for me.
You're not a sucker, you just had hope that it would be something more to your liking and it looks like it might not be. The fact that you're willing to dip out is a good thing. imo, that's the only thing that will affect change.
Sadly it wont, they have a system of not having forum posts if you're not subbed. This creates a positive feedback loop to all their changes, because eventually only the die hard yes-men stay and post. Then when sub figures do decline, they have no way of knowing what their playerbases actually wanted because they have no reasonable means of interacting with the players that have dipped. Locked forums on subs is a terrible idea from a quality perspective. This is the reason why WoW is struggling so hard to sort out their game, they have no real idea what their playerbase want to get them back because they have no engagement with them anymore.
