    Request: I don't want to solo the main scenario

    I know the plot has been put on hold but I believe this needs to reach Yoshi's ears now.

    I don't know about you guys, but I'm playing a MMORPG. I don't want to be able to solo the main scenario. I want to have to put a party together, to really struggle to get it cleared. To buy potions and items and have to use them at the precise moment of the battle.

    To enter capped areas and have to deal with having close to no abilities.

    I don't want just the avatars to be difficult. I want every single main scenario mission to be like that. I want to have to climb this huge 20 floors tower with my group having to avoid the enemies because otherwise we're all dead.

    I want to reach that one elevator on the top that goes down to the bottom making coming back much easier after you cleared it.

    I want enemies that change forms and attack modes through the battle.

    I want to have to desginate this one guy to kite one of the bosses around while we kill the other one.

    I want to suffer through promyvions. Through airship battles. I want the challenge.

    No, the companion NPC isn't a fellow player. I want to play with actual people. Coordinate a real strategy. Celebrate a real win. Not something you just clear by default.

    I understand the main scenario and the NPC companion were designed in a manner so that anyone can clear it without the help of anyone, including DoL and DoH. I'm against this. I feel that if you choose to play the butcher from the butcher shop you shouldn't expect to be able to defeat the Legatus of the Garlean empire that can fight on his own the entire circle of knowing.

Just because a player isn't hardcore it doesn't mean he's going to suck at playing this game. It only means he has less time to run around with misc prerequisites.

    Somewhere along the road it seems this line got blurred and everyone just assumes casual players suffer brain damage.

    Looking at the Job quest-line I would say its safe to assume that the continuation of the main scenario will be centred around party play, especially now that Yoshi-p official said that DoL and DoH will no longer be suitable to play the main scenario any more.

    I hope this also means they plan to go back and revise the previous quests as well.

    What I would like to see is each mission being mainly soloable until the end where you have to fight something in a group.

    It's not going to be "new", just retailored to have more action to it rather then be designed for all disciplines. The reason why the challenge was so disjointed with the main scenario was because it was designed to involve all the Disciplines but since Yoshida pretty much said you need a DoW/M to do the Main scenario now odds are the journey we've taken will differ greatly from what 2.0 people will get to experience.

    For the most party already confirmed by Yoshi-P as the focus for the main story is battle classes.

    I think this sounds good, but there should be some parts, or other stories that can be soloed or small group. Having content for all group sizes would be a plus.

    I think everyone here supports more content and looking at the job quests as an indication I think we'll have some fun main story quests shortly. (aka 1.22/1.23 => 2.0)

    I'd be willing to bet that 85% of the player base has no idea what's going on in the story. Completely oblivious to the fact that this is a numbered Final Fantasy title, people just want end-game content, which already has the team work element you want.

    Don't get me wrong, I want more stuff similar to Final Fantasy XI (similar, not copy/pasted for all of you with easily bunched panties) in terms of story progression, instead of just trading in a bunch of seals to rank up. I want content, missions, dungeons to explore...but I also realize that it's 2012, and hardly anybody actually cares about that stuff anymore. It's all about getting the best gear so you can do the next thing to get the next best gear... It's sad.

    I'm afraid of yoshi pulling an aht urhgan though. I remember when that expansion was released that every boss battle felt too easy, but I kept telling myself "oh that's because its just starting, the hard part is probably around the corner!" and then I beat alexander.

    I think this has an easy solution though, just put some semi decent rewards at the end of hard boss battles. XI had those cool rings that were the best rings in the game. That enough of a reason for a player to actually care about beating it.

    I'm not sure why would anyone play a final fantasy title if it wasn't for the story; maybe the graphics? But one wouldn't just pick up XIV for the smooth gameplay. This puzzles me.
    In any case, I think the answer isn't to dumb things down; I think that properly actor voicing every cut scene is kind of stepping from literature into cinema. Its more mainstream and up to the times. Doesn't mean they should sacrifice difficulty or content.

    Yoshi said FFXIV was a theme park... it really feels like this sector of old school FF is getting left out. I honestly don't care about end-game or HNMs. I just want plot and epic fights that go with it.
