I like the covered male design; I appreciate they made that version.

"not every female gear transfers well on male bodies" Okay but, it would be somewhat less infuriating if it had only small differences, we are used to it at some level. But the male version of the dancer gear we got looks like a completely different outfit. It's just sad. While I agree that the ripped top and naked belly would also look sexy on males, not every female gear transfers well on male bodies - unless you want to dress up a femboy, that is.
Which has its aesthetics, of course, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. So I don't think it a good idea to erase the distinctions between female and male gear. And we can't demand a standard of two sets for each gender, either.
Edit: I also agree with everyone complaining about picto, they advertised the crop top in the official art everywhere, it's only fair that people would want to wear it regardeless of character gender. I wanted to wear it. We still can see the "sew" of the other desing in it.

I don't, because if theoretical-I have a woman I want to dress more modestly I don't have access to it. Either everyone has to use a top that shows skin, or everyone gets both options.
The Dancer gear is also pretty egregious because the female design is just actively worse-looking this go-around, it's just a dull, generic look while the male one is very cute.

Alternatively they could just release a single model that is shared by both genders, spare some resources since only one set to design instead of 2, and nobody would bat an eye. And it would save them threads like those.
Yeah, I'm disappointed with the DNC AF too since it looks worse than the female version but so it goes.
"Not every female gear transfers well on male bodies" except previous Monk and Warrior artifact sets have shown that male crop tops work just fine when designed properly. "I like the covered male design" is great until female models who prefer more modest looks aren't allowed to use them because they're locked to male models. It's about either having the option for both so that we may choose to have something more modest vs. something more exposed (or vice versa), or simply designing one set of gear and not having an option at all. If it was about saving resources, they should be choosing the second option of a single design that both genders share. If they're going to expend the resources to make two different designs, both of those designs should be available to both genders, period.
That is another take and yes, I agree with you there. Both versions should at least obviously belong to a certain set instead of being two wholly different designs that would have nothing to do with each other on first glance if you didn't knew better. That only invokes envy.
Edit: In reply to chigwsaki, I didn't manage to quote properly.

Sigh...
Also annoying when the two variants share the same gear piece so it's less likely for the devs to fix it later.

Yeah, it sucks to see someone wearing gear that you can never wear just because of your character's gender. CBU3, please stop this.
