While I agree that the ripped top and naked belly would also look sexy on males, not every female gear transfers well on male bodies - unless you want to dress up a femboy, that is.
Which has its aesthetics, of course, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. So I don't think it a good idea to erase the distinctions between female and male gear. And we can't demand a standard of two sets for each gender, either.

"not every female gear transfers well on male bodies" Okay but, it would be somewhat less infuriating if it had only small differences, we are used to it at some level. But the male version of the dancer gear we got looks like a completely different outfit. It's just sad.

Edit: I also agree with everyone complaining about picto, they advertised the crop top in the official art everywhere, it's only fair that people would want to wear it regardeless of character gender. I wanted to wear it. We still can see the "sew" of the other desing in it.

That is another take and yes, I agree with you there. Both versions should at least obviously belong to a certain set instead of being two wholly different designs that would have nothing to do with each other on first glance if you didn't knew better. That only invokes envy.

Edit: In reply to chigwsaki, I didn't manage to quote properly.

No gender difference would mean there's no obvious "girly" or "manly" vibe - which many enjoy and have fun dressing their characters in - and every clothing design would have to be toned down to something flat and shapeless. And even if not, it will always lean more towards one of two possible directions, which, in turn, would result in too many people being dissatisfied depending on personal tastes and preferences.

I understand your wish but the solution can't be to exclude others in order to include one's own self. Unlocking both versions for each seems to be the a reasonable approach, though.
Insisting that they would "have" to do that is part of the very attitude I'm talking about. There are plenty of items wearable by both model types that are more masc/fem, and just making them a specific vibe but available for everyone with the expectation that people will go for other items that better match their personal style is better and less asinine than putting your head in the sand and insisting that if we don't do stupid gender limitations everyone will be forced to wear potato sacks.

I didn't say that. I meant it could be a possibility for the unisex gear approach but added a "even if not" sentence that further describes the potential issues I'm imagining here because I'm trying to see the big picture and making an effort into regarding many people's sentiments. And in the end, I saw reason with one of your suggestions, so where exactly is the harm? Maybe you're too infuriated/passionate about that topic to read my words as well-intentioned as they are undoubtably meant.
