I'd argue it's less work/time to fit one gearset to both gender models than it is to make an entire second gearset. IMO either they should stick to a single design for both models or, if they're going to make different designs, make them available to both models.
Oh wow yeah this is definitely disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing my male character in the pictomancer outfit but this change seems very unnecessary.
One of the reasons I started FFXIV back in the day was that there was little to no gendered difference in gear - full covering plate armor was full covering plate armor, and skimpy outfits were skimpy outfits. But in recent years they went backwards with this so much. There are so many outfits nowadays that force a miniskirt with thigh-highs on female characters when they have pants for the male, not to mention the ones that are just completely different, like the dancers. At least we get to have the pink shawl, I guess...
While I agree that the ripped top and naked belly would also look sexy on males, not every female gear transfers well on male bodies - unless you want to dress up a femboy, that is.
Which has its aesthetics, of course, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. So I don't think it a good idea to erase the distinctions between female and male gear. And we can't demand a standard of two sets for each gender, either.
Daily reminder that hempen camise set is still locked behind race, despite it's even less time consuming for CBU3 to do it lol.I do understand that, but also simply having little to no differences would also be less time-consuming for them xD There are only differences in certain sets, which is why people are unhappy, because it just isn't needed and seems very targeted. It goes against what they've said in the past regarding gender-locked gear.
You think CBU3 would be smart about it this time, but then the new hats introduced in Endwalker are still not designed with Hrothgar and Viera in mind.
That is ARR gear from 8+ years ago. The issue is that they've recently stated that they'll stop gender-locking gear. These decisions are new ones, which is why ppl are unhappy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So I can't even make a cute Bill S Preston Esquire glam with the croppy toppy? ffs
If this is how CBU3 wanted to play, say, in your opinion, what are the odds that 8.0 would allow Viera and Hrothgar wear hats without getting their ear lopped off?
LOL
There’s a novel concept of simply not wearing a piece of gear if you do not like it.While I agree that the ripped top and naked belly would also look sexy on males, not every female gear transfers well on male bodies - unless you want to dress up a femboy, that is.

The gear should look the same on both genders, period.
lmfao that is a different issue, and there are literally hundreds of forum posts about it already. Yeah, they should be able to wear hats and they should just let the ears clip through. The possibility of them actually fixing this doesn't matter, the forums are for feedback and that's what we're giving :P
