Unable to use Visa debit (north American)

I'm glad this had worked out for you but.... currently, the issue is that no debit/credit card transactions can be made. With the current maintenance happening and now that it's finished the issues are still in effect for some people to my knowledge but it's not just the mogstation it's also the online store and currently in NA you can't make any purchases. NA support is just not helping with the issues and the sad part is the Maintenance didn't fix these issues.? I have tried to get help from the support team and my answer was they have no eta of when it will work and that they will contact me with a solution when they come up with one. I guess I'll find out what will happen because I tried to unregister and reregister my card and it won't let me then I went to the site and it says my cards are still on file and that my subscription is still active and recurring, so I'll find out in 6 days.

Want to put some pressure on SE? Take a (short) break every time you need to manually renew your sub, or at the very least wait until it expires to renew it. I don't think financial planning people at SE will enjoy seeing many subs in the process of expiring and not yet renewed. Show them your patronage is not guaranteed by avoiding to renew in advance.

I love how they mods aren't really even helping still on the support tickets nor giving any updates about fixing it lol ok honestly don't sub if this makes then take it serious when they lose people and money they will fix it maybe

they also closed any other support post about the cards minus this post since a dumb mod moved it into general post lol you can no longer reply on a lot of post cause they locked them so people stop pressuring them like no get pressured

I think SE is very shortsighted on this. I really don’t get all the restrictions when other businesses have no issues accepting payment methods which are widely accepted everywhere else…like carte bleue (CB)? That’s 2/3 of France and several of my friends are stuck with that. Apart Visa and Mastercard credit cards (and a Visa CB doesn’t work), the other options are not available everywhere or come with extra fees and, where applicable, bad exchange rates.

THe issue is more likely on the payment processor side than SE.

Hell, most people live like, within 25 miles of where they were born. Mobility is not high, at least in the US, because moving is expensive and wages haven't increased for normal workers much in decades.

From what I am seeing if you've had your auto-subscription set up with your Visa/Debit card prior to the change and haven't done anything to it since, it's going through. I am seeing multiple cases of this. I didn't realize so many people paid just month to month. My sub is supposed to post tomorrow, so we will see if I am lucky or if it fails

That's because SE themselves stated that as long as you do not do any change to your account if you have a reoccurring subscription using a debit or credit card set up prior to the changeover to the new payment vendor, the system will continue to process your subscription with the old payment vendor (Gclsip I believe the company was called, at least, that's what always came up whenever I updated card details originally).

Making any kind of change to your account however such as updating card details, and even including making a once-only charge like buying something on the Online Store, will automatically switch the system to using the new payment vendor, and there is no way of avoiding this or changing back, which is where the problem lies (considering this grandfathered-in use of the old vendor, I can't see why SE can't do at least a temporary pause on this new vendor for debit cards etc and switch back temporarily to the old payment vendor at least until the problem is sorted out, but probably there's contractual obligations behind the scenes requiring it). Compounding the issue is the seperate problem of having to verify your address in the system before the new payment system will even work, and people have been having seperate issues with that as well. So it's several seperate problems all mounting up.

If you live in the US and move over half of the continent, you'd also still be in the US. Not a lot of places are like this. I'm in central Europe. If I do this, I am travelling through three whole different countries with their own laws, payment systems and what not. And because all of the countries involved including my own are in the EU, I could work in all of them if it suits my fancy, with little bureaucratic effort. I don't know how common it is to move around and I cba to check statistics, but considering so many countries are in close proximity, I'd say it's more likely people move countries once in a while within Europe, compared to e.g. someone moving from USA to Canada or Mexico.

That aside, moving a country for better living conditions, a better job or even just boredom shouldn't lock a person out of their favourite game, no matter how common or uncommon this is. Nobody should be forced to use a fake address (and then get in trouble for it) or quit because SE's system is stuck in 1995 or so.
