Outside of a general boss mechanic ping, i havent seen any single use that realy needs sound effects.
And even for that boss ping... i have party chat always make a sound to never miss that information anyway.

I use /echo with sound effects on macros that need more than 1 macro push, or if there is something I need to do post macro. Useful when I’m not really paying attention and watching Netflix while cranking out a dozen or so widgets. Mostly we are talking crafting or hot bar swaps.

While in situations like on PVP comes handy, there are others that while less common happen to be a bigger annoyance at times, say rezz macros or simply emote or even combat ones
I don't see why putting the optional option to purely mute them would be a wrong idea single it'd be just toggled to everyones preference
And no, the problem here is not the text macro, that you can just hide the chat window and move on, but sound being something you cannot causes the disruption

What am I even looking at here lmaoWhile in situations like on PVP comes handy, there are others that while less common happen to be a bigger annoyance at times, say rezz macros or simply emote or even combat ones

It gets funnier because you can just have all of these for yourself with /echo, the fact they just don't use it implies they just like people to see it, for better or in this case, worseDear goodness.
Besides mental instability, there is no explanation for why someone would ever think that anyone, anyone at all, would ever wish to see (and hear) such nonsensical spam. Nobody cares to see whatever that is. It isn't cool. It isn't funny. It's obnoxious. (Same goes for the ones spamming ASCII cats in chat.)
To those people, I'd say: with friends, spam whatever your heart desires. But when you're with strangers in a random group, have common sense and decorum enough to avoid being irritating.
But yeah and again, text is a big whatever since you can just filter these, but the sound is just the shitty cherry on top
