That is exactly what I am saying. I find it ridiculous to think someone's ranking on a leaderboard or general achievement of completing something is supposed to be devalued because some hillbilly mccheatington can't restrain themselves from being a fraud.
For the same reason I find it stupid to devalue someone's ultimate clears for not being done on content, people using obscene amounts of plugins and clear sellers existing I find it stupid to actively shit on old Feasters because of wintraders and cheaters existing.
Kind reminder that all I am asking for in place of the items returning is some form of item tooltip mark (item quality, a star in the name, a rank number, a flavourtext) to be applied to the originals. Because frankly, we care enough that we want to be told apart from people who obtained the replica as players who own the original.
My only gripe with most of you is "how" the new replicas are supposed to be obtained. They should be obtainable with no limitation to item number, but shouldn't exactly be a freebie like moogle tomestones, wolfmarks or trophy crystals - that is my only take on the matter where I am adamant on and will argue for a form of light-weight ranked obtainment method that can be done even at Bronze, just like pre-6.1 Wolfcollars but better and modern.
This is not to artificially create scarcity but to instead encourage interaction with content in need of it. We argue for similar treatment in Criterion, don't we?
Beyond that, let everyone have it, I don't care. Glamour be glamour, just let mine stand out in a tooltip or something.

You seem to have a lot of resentment towards anyone and everyone else while also lumping people in together. Your fixation on plugins for some random reason sounds like jealousy to me, according to your logic. You can add "kind reminder" and "forgive me for saying this, but" all you want but you still sound like a pompous ass.
Anyway, if someone cheating doesn't take your accomplishment away, why do you need an item to wave around? Are you saying that without the item that your accomplishment means nothing? Save me the soapbox and just answer that.
As a collector, rare things are more valuable than the stuff everyone has. I am proud of having hard to obtain stuff. And I don't really care about the stuff everyone has.
There was a time I was very proud of my Fenrir mount. I got it in 2015 before they increased MGP rewards and added the weekly challenge log and stuff. It is of course still a cool mount. But it's just not the same anymore when everyone has it. It lost it's value. And no amount of convincing myself "I got it before" will bring back that value. I am still proud of getting it back then. But that emotion is no longer tied to the actual mount. I don't feel special anymore riding it.
But I party agree that they should not lock iconic stuff like the "Dreadnaught" mount or that "Determined" or "Linkpearl" emote away.
But overall: Why should I lose my bragging rights just so someone can use an item which gets boring the next week anyway when something new appears on the horizon?
When everything gets devalued anyway, why even spend the effort to obtain it now?
Why even play the game anymore? All you can win is meaningless stuff anyway.
"Oh because it's fun. If it's not fun what are you even doing here?"
Well maybe I have fun in collecting stuff. And the more rare and hard to obtain the better.
So yes I do have fun playing FF14. But having fun is not even that important. More important is to achieve something and be proud of that achievment. And even moreso when you have something which shows to yourself and everyone else that you achieved it. And then I have fun looking at it.
It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.
I'm sorry but when I referred to this I specifically meant those who use plugins that make invisible AOEs visible and complete automation of combat actions. And with "most of you" I mean you fellas here in this thread who take drastic offense, that I dare suggest putting it behind ranked, no matter how easy the requirement would be. Sorry not sorry, cannot and will not save you from the soap box trying to answer this if you cannot read between the lines and proceed to say that I sound like "a pompous ass".
Cheaters don't devalue my achievement, but as much as the next guy wants an incentive to do their content (again, look at Criterion), I want an incentive for mine. It is the most visible display of an achievement.
And given that the glamour would otherwise be identical, why do you care so much that the original 100 would have a mark in the tooltip to set it apart? I am already okay with making it accessible to everyone, why is a small differenciation such a deal breaker if the main argument is glamour for most of you arguing against top 100? Why should only your side of the bargain and argument be respected?
Stop lumping me in with other people. You clearly dislike that people associate Feast with cheaters, so maybe consider that other people don't like it either.
Say it plainly or don't say anything at all. If you expect me to "read between the lines" when you can't even say it with your whole chest, why even listen to you?
You problem.
I don't.
What side? What bargain? Again, stop lumping me in with other people. I'm trying to help you say what it is you actually mean.
You're spot on. Prestige doesn't resonate with most folks—it's glamour they crave. You can't compel anyone to value prestige. For many, it's a hollow status, lacking true significance. After all, nobody is obligated to applaud your accomplishments.
The worth of prestige relies solely on whether people assign it value.
99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt
Ok no if everytime I say "you" you (person) immediately feel addressed when I write plain as day what my issue is and think I put you in the same group as everyone else, that's on you. "You" is more than just addressing a single person, which I have been doing most of the time (addressing a group or collective). If you (anyone) don't feel like to be part of the group I have an issue with then kindly stop feeling addressed by it.
I am done having to argue with you (person) and I am done with your (person) "you think you are saying X but actually you don't know" theatrics. I know what I said and I will not have myself gaslit by someone as if I am not even aware what I am saying.
I have, in painstaking detail throughout many threads, including this one, made my point how I feel about the current state of incentivisation of this game and what suggestions and solutions I have delivered. I have not been an enemy or opponent of either side, I have been a middleman.
Is there anything yet unclear for you, Doozer?
Yes but there are people who do assign value to it. Should we really take it away from them?
But your post got me thinking:
Does glamour can have prestige?
Do people feel proud when they come up with a new glamour combination which looks really good?
Do they feel they need to change their look when everyone else is wearing the same clothes?
Assigning significance to glamour is just as hollow as assigning prestige to some virtual items.
So: Why should glamour have a greater value than prestige?
It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.
Glamour doesn't really have prestige, because you're the only person who knows you are the one who came up with it - for anyone else knows, you just copied it from someone else or like...eorzea collection.
If you're good at creating cohesive looks and presenting them well you might get compliments, like you might get with any creative endeavour, but imho if you're only doing it for the compliments, you're doing it wrong.
