I agree here for some things, lets say that they need to delay to make the seams go away, this is an objective issue everyone can agree on and I'd rather wait X amount of time and have seams for a decade just because we rushed them to release.

On the other hand, lets say its to rollback a change that not everyone agrees with like adding the mouth gap again to Miqo 4, just because some people think it gave it personality and now people who had vacations scheduled to coincide with release have to reschedule their vacations and also cause all sorts of delays down the release pipeline then no, that is unreasonable. Some people considered those flaws that needed to get fixed. And now they are getting put back into the game because unbeknownst to them, while they were celebrating after running the benchmark with their friends and not even checking the forums people here complained and now the game is delayed so they can put the flaw back into the game.

Something similar has actually already happened. Back at one of the fan fests they showed updates to au ra eye rings and they looked much more subtle/blended into the second color and it looked more natural. Obviously a lot of people use very contrasting bright eye rings so they offered their feedback about it.

The devs ended up rolling it back and now the eye rings are just as bright as they've been, here's the problem though. Quite a lot of people liked that change but instead of SE giving us options for both they just roll it back to appease the people who didnt like the change and the people who did like the change are now disappointed.

At the end of the day the real problem is the lack of choices in the character creator to appease everyone. There needs to be some middle ground here.

That's fine, if you are so emotionally clouded that you would destroy a race and self sabotage just to try to get to me I would just fantasia to Viera or Hyur. No matter what unless they give you exactly what you want you will never be happy and attack others because they just don't understand everything has to be your way or get destroyed.

How is anyone supposed to reason with that or even take you seriously? Believe me, you aren't helping anyone and least of all yourself.

Just stop arguing amongst yourselves and keep posting specific, constructive feedback about changes to the shape of eyes, noses and lips. Ignore anyone who tells you to stop or says its fine.

I'm suffering the same trouble, and would love to pinpoint more precisely the problems, especially to explain it to some friends that can't see any difference.

As soon as I get home I'd be happy to. If nothing else it let me feel less crazy for seeing the changes when people were telling me they look the same.

I really think studios shouldn't care about people taking vacations for a release.
Not to be rude at all, I did it, and will continue in the future. But that really should not be a concern for the devs.
The product quality should be the one and only focus. Always.

If I asked someone to restore or recreate a piece of art you'd bet I'd be upset if they decided giving them duck lips was an improvement. I told everyone that Au Ra face 4's mouth was puckered out and the corners had dimples added. I finally got to see the mesh in blender last night next to the old one, courtesy of a friend. Oh, look at that, the mouth was stuck out measurably further and a literally dip in the corners was added. That's not upscaling, that's changing what a character looks like, and this announcement validates that. If people liked the new face four chances are high they did not already play face four, and I think the current face four players should take precedence. This goes for every other race. (Wanting their fangs back is not just wanting their gap back because it was cute, mooncats literally lost what made their race different.)

Full disclosure I did not ask for vacations but know some who did. I see the point in focusing on quality, that in and of itself is not bad and I can sort of agree when the "Quality" in question is not subjective. But I would say that everything matters and people should be considerate of others. We all knew how Yoshida took the last delay really hard and was extremely hesitant to give a date due to not being 100% sure. They take their announced release dates extremely seriously. Seeing the benchmark, I don't see anything that is so scuffed a multimillion dollar launch needs to get delayed. Perhaps some of it can be ongoing work if needed.

Happy to see a mention in the post about the "mouth scaling" being weird, curious to see what the actual intended effect is.

Also very happy to see that they plan on changing up the character creator. Maybe we can now finally stop getting inaccurate CC comparisons for how things actually look with the upgrades
