It's really interesting to see people trying to invalidate feedback by using statements 'it's the same picture' and 'it's just the light'. We all are paying customers here and this is a product we're getting. I don't think things must be black or white. Why should you be happy at my expense? Why should I be happy at your expense? If we focus on the either or we'd never reach a solution.

I don't think the devs are 'decieving' us intentionally, it's hard to discern 'feeling' or 'vibe' from something you haven't spent much time with. I'd like to think the people who worked on our characters may have a bias, as someone who is an amateur artist- sometimes a personal bias might carry through- perhaps out of passion. I made it beautiful, but perhaps in my attempt to make something beautiful in my eyes, it lost some charm to you, I'd love your feedback as I'm providing you with a product. This is an oversimplification of course.

Stop trying to silence feedback because it's negative. At worst DT might get delayed, but what spurred so many to take to the forums is not just 'oh it's in your head' and 'you're being dramatic'. A good artist should see negative feedback as an opportunity to improve- I think this concept applies to everything. I think the input/feedback from people who spent alot of time with their character should be invaluable and encouraged.

I doubt the Graphical Overhaul will be optional or even scrapped- that's a compromise some of us will have to make but I think many will appreciate consistency in the shape of lips/noses/eyes etc. If not, then we should be pushing for more optional presets and in this point I doubt it'd be too much to ask.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps you think the flaws I like ugly and should be removed, and perhaps I think your standard beautiful look to be generic- none of us are wrong. I think we can coexist with more preset options to express ourselves. If you like a certain feature change, give constructive feedback and who knows, we might get the options that might make us all happy (hopefully) so that we may continue to enjoy this game we love.

You're calling perfectly conventionally attractive characters literal freaks.
If you *really* want to give feedback, then dial the drama way back and provide a well-written and detailed explanation, preferably with diagrams instead of vaguely screeching on the forums.
This is why the devs don't listen to EN forums, just take a cursory glance at the JP feedback thread and you will see a world of difference.

Top/Bottom left: the character as they appear in EW.
Top Right: the character as they appear in the Benchmark, no changes.
Bottom Left: the character with their face changed from Face 2 to Face 3. (and also lips changed from Dark to Light)

Hard to say for sure. The mouth/eyes/nose options are all completely different, and obviously the marks are completely different.
But the overall shape does seem closer to me than the unchanged version. Its certainly got that 'plumper' look that I was going for when originally making her. Sad to lose her markings, and still annoyed at the thicker eyelashes, but overall I dont... completely hate it. It sure as hell feels like a compromise and like I am still losing my old character though.

Yeah, my brain lapsed when writing that post and forgot that changing the face changes many other things, sorry for that. It does indeed look plumper, your theory about them screwing up somewhere could be an actual bug.

I have. I like them quite a lot. But I can see the difference between my natural dimples in real life and the deep hollow of my character's face.

You pay money to play a generic braidcat (I'm standing in Ul'dah balmung right now and there's like eighty of you) and you're upset because your character is slightly more detailed. I've seen that thread and the characters that look 'worse' weren't good to begin with. Everyone is thinking the sky is falling because of the most slight, minute differences that are often just blatant improvements.

By the way, I asked my husband to make a post on the Japanese forum, because he understands a little Japanese and was able to find the right forum thread, unlike me.
We translated the text using a translator. The text is the same as what I left in our part of the forum. No one argued with me there, no one advised me to switch the light/turn the camera/rub my eyes/stop being dramatic/touch the grass. Although I wrote that I was very frightened by her appearance and was worried. There were no discussions at all. My post received positive reactions and that's all. And I hope that SE will see it, notice the problem and fix my character.

Seeing so many ppl in the community being so apathetic & dismissive of something that is obviously very important for a large portion of the playerbase (especially in a game so heavily story & character-driven) is kinda more frustrating than the non-consensual plastic surgery my girl (& a lot of us) has had. It's like telling someone with depression to cheer/toughen up because "it's not that bad" or "other ppl have it worse".

The way people conduct themselves and give feedback here compared to the JP thread almost gives me whiplash, to be honest.
