I am happy enough with the update, it happened to me and many other players coming from 1.0. I miss my gloss that is it on the lips and would like that back but as far as other things it looks nice and I am looking forward to having a play around. I did notice once my character was moving around and in the actual benchmark she looked more or less the same.

When players have been using same character for ages, it's very easy to perceive even minor changes to your character. Such as different eye position or shape.

And overall many are unhappy with the changes on lips and mouth. Combine the different eyes and mouth, your character gives quite different feeling than previously.

So much this. It’s baffling how people get to defend their feedback from other players, explaining it over and over, drawing over things again and again, as if those players are devs deciding if this is a valid concern or not, if they are somehow holding a dismiss or approve power. It’s a waste of time and energy on both sides. This is supposed to be a player feedback for devs, it’s for them to see and decide, not players who see no issue. It’s already so disorganised and spread out to so many threads that it has very little hope to be considered. My hope goes only to jp forums personally, in that regard. But I wish this side could still be a place where people would not be attacked and laughed at.
And all the “try a different lighting setup” comments remind me of “try to switch it off and on again” suggestions. It is not that helpful as you think it is.

idk if it's the lighting or me , but i think faces now look the same ? specially with female miqo'te .. the uniqueness races had before are now gone that if you try to make a character from a specific race it won't matter what face u choose because they all look kinda the same to me .

It's really interesting to see people trying to invalidate feedback by using statements 'it's the same picture' and 'it's just the light'. We all are paying customers here and this is a product we're getting. I don't think things must be black or white. Why should you be happy at my expense? Why should I be happy at your expense? If we focus on the either or we'd never reach a solution.

I don't think the devs are 'decieving' us intentionally, it's hard to discern 'feeling' or 'vibe' from something you haven't spent much time with. I'd like to think the people who worked on our characters may have a bias, as someone who is an amateur artist- sometimes a personal bias might carry through- perhaps out of passion. I made it beautiful, but perhaps in my attempt to make something beautiful in my eyes, it lost some charm to you, I'd love your feedback as I'm providing you with a product. This is an oversimplification of course.

Stop trying to silence feedback because it's negative. At worst DT might get delayed, but what spurred so many to take to the forums is not just 'oh it's in your head' and 'you're being dramatic'. A good artist should see negative feedback as an opportunity to improve- I think this concept applies to everything. I think the input/feedback from people who spent alot of time with their character should be invaluable and encouraged.

I doubt the Graphical Overhaul will be optional or even scrapped- that's a compromise some of us will have to make but I think many will appreciate consistency in the shape of lips/noses/eyes etc. If not, then we should be pushing for more optional presets and in this point I doubt it'd be too much to ask.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps you think the flaws I like ugly and should be removed, and perhaps I think your standard beautiful look to be generic- none of us are wrong. I think we can coexist with more preset options to express ourselves. If you like a certain feature change, give constructive feedback and who knows, we might get the options that might make us all happy (hopefully) so that we may continue to enjoy this game we love.

You pay money to play a generic braidcat (I'm standing in Ul'dah balmung right now and there's like eighty of you) and you're upset because your character is slightly more detailed. I've seen that thread and the characters that look 'worse' weren't good to begin with. Everyone is thinking the sky is falling because of the most slight, minute differences that are often just blatant improvements.

By the way, I asked my husband to make a post on the Japanese forum, because he understands a little Japanese and was able to find the right forum thread, unlike me.
We translated the text using a translator. The text is the same as what I left in our part of the forum. No one argued with me there, no one advised me to switch the light/turn the camera/rub my eyes/stop being dramatic/touch the grass. Although I wrote that I was very frightened by her appearance and was worried. There were no discussions at all. My post received positive reactions and that's all. And I hope that SE will see it, notice the problem and fix my character.
