yeah, it'd be really hard. consider that the head apparently has a ton more bones now, which will inevitably affect how headgear works with it. Are they going to be making double the headgear (one new, one old) so that it renders properly on the old models? If our character has new facial expressions, they'd have to go do them for the old facial meshes/rigging as well, basically doubling their work in any given cutscene that has us do more than "" or ":|" or ":[". And that's not even going into whether the bodies got any changes - I had just heard about how they basically completely redid everything involving faces online earlier.

there are things they do absolutely need to fix, particularly actualy missing textures on au ra (im assumign they used an AI upscaler like how DLSS does and they didnt have a second pass) or some hairs highlights being changed (this shouldnt be too hard)

but there are some people posting before and after pics here that i cannot tell the difference of

I don't think there's a world where this is even remotely close, every single feature on the face is different, and it also looks like she was deaged about 15 years.

It's not even that it looks neccessarily bad but that's not my character.

I am genuinely struggling to tell the difference. Not to be dismissive of your opinion but provide perspective from a third party observation point. I think a lot of times we obsess over extremely minute details others can't perceive or notice and think everyone notices. So I'm just letting you know, in my world at least, that looks like the same cat. Just a bit more HD.

I see it but I am a retro gamer so the issues in the old one stick out like sore blood covered thumb. Play the original Mario bros cart on a 1080p tv for a hour or two then look at her pics, problems will pop out like daises lol

Yeah your current character looks like "normal" and the benchmark version looks like her when she was 10yo. She is definitely cute but I wouldnt want the character below to go fight monsters... :P

I understand the difference because I have a character close to that. As for the answers where people can't tell the difference, keep in mind that we all have different characters, and the changes that were made to YOURS will always seem heavier than to other characters. After years of playtime, you need to know every detail of your character's face, and that's why for us, this face and these eyes are so different. On other posts I also took screenshots for comparison. You can see the big differences with these if you choose the Gridania preset (in CC). But let me post these screens so maybe you all can understand what's wrong. Please look at the eye shape at the top, right corner:

Seeing them on top of the each other it looks like the eye itself is pretty much identical. The eyelash is a bit thicker and the outside upper right corner of the skin surrounding the eye is pointed slightly lower than it was before.

The OP calling that "not remotely close" to the original seems like a stretch but everyone is free to draw their own conclusions.

the new one the outer corner of the eye is lower (easy to tell looking at the space between the eyelashes and actual eyeball), and the inner corner is much more pointed and less rounded, and quite a bit shorter, and the actual eye is more open, leading it to look significantly larger and ovoid, if you aren't used to looking at the same character day in and day out, it might be harder to notice, but its not an "insignificant" change, because it affects the "mood" of the face, larger, more egg-shaped eyes give a different feeling than narrower sharper eyes.
