The two preceding battle segments ("Thal's balls" and Nald's knockback game) each take a long time, and I think they could be done by randomly picking one or the other instead of doing both every time.
It would be a good idea for them to get over the fear of HP-based phasing that they developed after Heavensward and use it to make sure key mechanics always go off. That would still allow them to tutorialize for underperforming or undergeared groups while making sure that high-performing groups can't just skip most of the fight.
