Similarly, while I might say 'I want more buttons in my 'rotation' as WHM, that does not require them to be a direct sequence of any kind, like a 1-2-3 combo enforces.
It sometimes feels like playing a game of Taboo, doesn't it? Too many people dislike the word "rotation" because they hear it and think "1-2-3 combo" or some DPS pattern that will be broken every time you need to heal and make healers hate healing more. So lately we have to pussyfoot around the word and come up with some type of word salad to communicate "A wider selection of attacks and/or other types of actions that I frequently and consistently engage with regardless of the type of content that I'm participating in." Because that rolls of the tongue. We can't just use "rotation" and simply further define rotations as being somewhere on the spectrum of "strict" (a DPS pattern that has a more demanding, specific order in which things must be used), to "soft" (a DPS pattern that has more flexibility and wiggle room to move actions around).
