Mao curious. Why need so many house? Mao has one house and one is plenty for Mao. Mao just wonderings why some peoples go for so many house.

A hope is that bright light burning within each and everyone of us!

Do you also ask raiders why they raid the exact same raid every week ? : P
Same thing for people like me who love housing and love to decorate

Mao knows why raiders raidings every week. Is to gets gears. Mao didn't know why peoples collectings many house. So for Stormpeaks is to do much decoratings?
Profit. Virtual or real money.
Except raid instance does not occupy other people's instance slots. I don't think its accurate comparison.

its actually unbelievable that we're sticking to this system and just trying to cope with it. its so bad. its objectively bad. no matter what part of the game you say is good, this part is just objectively, inarguably horribly designed and stupid and so short-sighted it's embarassing and it makes absolutely little to no sense that they would even release a single new decorative item in any consecutive patches given how embarassingly dogshit it all is. i dont even know what the hell proponents of the way this shit works are arguing for. to make it suck more? why not just go outside and eat dirt instead or become a ranger or something? why would you specifically ever even say that less people should participate in the system by design when it clearly doesn't support the people who play on each server? why shouldnt you be able to buy the house you want if you have the gil for it? this is a video-game there is actually no good reason, not even budget, for such a large facet to suck this much
they need to just make instanced housing lol more wards will always leave a larger majority of people disatisfied than anything else because people arent trying to buy smalls all the time. the wards are almost always empty ~99% of the time even if all the houses are purchased, adding more wards just kind of makes it so that your chances of encountering a neighbor, a stray rat or any sentient thing whatsoever are nothing, even though it was basically some irrational small number in the first place.
every so often i come back to this forum just to see if anything has changed, and it never does. its comical. its like if there was a subsection of the forums for the grand company squadron shit and the people there coped month after month that the system would ever get updated or you could become more than a captain and it would do anything new at all; the same old thing did not work before lottery because there were not enough houses. now that there are still not enough, lottery is bad. adding a couple new wards every year and a half will not make "enough" there just needs to be enough for the people who want to participate in the way they want to participate and that's the only thing that will make everyone happy. instanced housing will instantly and totally invalidate any value there is in RMT, housing sales, and generally unsanctioned housing mcshittery that people currently participate in. if you had idiots in your wards multi-subbing, the sub economy would probably get tanked by shell-fc's owning instanced workshops. their efforts would be basically made meaningless beyond whatever theyve currently accomplished. there would be no reason for people to hoard houses other than to be deliberately annoying. some people can afford it, maybe less people will have the income if doing so in the first place gives basically no return at all.
like i get that people simply want more chances to own a house, but "a chance" is not what we should be asking for, or even demanding. even in some world where you can post a quote, specifically, where yoshi p, the president of the world or Jesus Hugging Christ said verbatim "there will not be instanced housing in FFXIV" you should be saying "thats stupid as shit. that makes no sense. SE can afford to do it because FFXIV is its most profitable IP; and it would solve a lot of problems and just make the game better overall. instead of deciding to be irrational and making it suck on purpose you should make it not suck at all." im not even saying to get rid of wards or the neighborhood if youre going to cry that what im suggesting would destroy whatever you've built; im saying to make neighborhood plots functionally and gameplay-wise WORTHLESS outside of the gil sinks theyre supposed to be because i wouldn't say something as pretentious as "x people arent supposed to own x houses," this is a video-game, and a non-competitive one at that. anyone who can afford a house should be able to own the size they want so they can play the game

M and L are unwanted too on the servers where people hoard houses. If somebody else wanted those larges and mediums there would be lots of bids on them on the very first round after new wards are added. But that's not the case. Empyreum fc mansions on my server had only around 2 bids each when Empyreum was first added. Legitimate fcs who wanted one, got one. Was I shocked to find out later that someone bought an Empyreum ward for themselves? Nope, not when the demand was so low. If those plots had had 50 bids each it wouldn't have been possible, because hoarders cannot bypass the lottery. Ward takeovers are not possible when demand is high.Presenting it like "oh these poor unwanted S plots, alright then, I will take the burden off from your shoulders and obtain them since nobody wants them" is in contradiction what is happening in reality every time new wards are added. Everyone including hoarders goes after L and M first.
The people complaining about multiowners were not bidding on newly added fc mediums and fc larges, probably don't even have their own fc (making them unable to bid in fc wards even if they wanted to), but they are mad someone else bought those plots more than a year ago. I don't think the most desired plots in the game need to be left vacant as an act of charity to serve the wants of long time players who can't be bothered to show up within 5 days to get a free house.
Some EU and NA worlds will have their locked wards opened for bidding at some point. Will the multiowners bid on those too? Yes. Will the people playing on older servers and complaining about multiowners make characters on those servers and bid there? No, they won't. Because they don't want those houses enough to bid on them. They'll keep blaming multiowners for buying them though.
