You're on a feed back thread where people can now expose the hipocrisy with how SE has been running and this will be seen by said company. The things bought up are adjacent to SE gouging players for more money, all these things can possibly be fixed if people make a big enough stink, but since you wanna be extra about it have a nice one.

Good. I really do wish that predatory nonsense would fall off a cliff and never come back. I left an MMO I'd played for 11 years due to said game committing itself to trying to emulate a smartphone game business model - namely gamble boxes and big-ticket (£300) item bundles.
I wouldn't even put this wholly on SE, and would put it more on Microsoft.
I can't, and wouldn't expect SE bend the knee and negate subscription cost because it also requires Game Pass, especially when it is their game and especially when Game Pass offers benefits outside of XIV.
Would also go on and say that short of declining the launch on Xbox, then there isn't much that they could do to make Microsoft bend the knee to putting exemption on Game Pass.

PSN is not free btw...you NEED PlayStation Plus to play online games. I think I pay around $80 a year for PSN Essential. This is choice I make due to how much I play online games with my friends. Plus the 3 free games a month are enough cost justification for me to keep it going as well. I removed PlayStation Deluxe from my subscription, as I had it for a year...the cost just didn't justify the investment. Most of the games on there I already own physically. I still play my PS2 and PS3, and having most of those games physically meant having PS+ Deluxe was kind of pointless. I downgraded before my annual charge and I don't regret it. Maybe if they expand it later I'll look back into it.
FFXIV I pay $19.99 a month and have done so for over 10 years now ($20 when I added more retainers). I enjoy the game and have many friends that still play it. I easily put in around 150 hours a year on this game, and is my only subscription based game.
FFXIV does NOT require you to have a PS+ paid subscription which can be misleading. When PSN goes down...I can't play FFXIV. So that doesn't make sense. Which is something I believe SE has decided possibly with Sony to attract more customers by not having to pay for PS+, but FFXIV needs a PSN Network check prior to playing? Who knows..... Obviously there is some handshake between my PS5 and PSN Network to the FFXIV servers. When PSN goes down or the PSN server farts during login...I can't play.
The Game Pass issue imo is probably due to Microsoft wanting customers on their console side of gaming and in addition to fork over that cold hard cash . I'll never understand Microsofts' business model in gaming. They will come at you clean dressed, with Car Salesmen lingo, and act like your friend in order to give the "look" that they can be trusted in selling "products". They tout how amazing XBOX is, but yet offer only XBOX game pass as the premier thing to have if you want fully enjoy their gaming experience. Which is where the problem lies. I haven't enjoyed an XBOX exclusive title since maybe Gears of War 2 and Halo 3. After that I can just get it on PC. I ditched Microsoft after the 360 era when I saw how AWFUL the XBOX 1 was going to turn out to be with that infamous E3....to which Microsoft did a LITERAL about face on ALL of what the XBOX 1 was saying is "the right direction for the gamer"...the gamer in me saw through that bullshit IMMEDIATLY. What did it for me was the DRM and needing to stay connected to the internet to even play OFFLINE games....so no more sharing with my friends...ok. Then Sony comes out with a HAYMAKER of an ad...

This single handedly SUNK XBOX for me....and pretty much made my decision to get a PS4 at launch and NOT an XBOX 1. Phil Spencer in all of his wisdom had but one choice to keep XBOX alive...focus on backwards compatibility...then that morphed into Game Pass...and now it's all XBOX has....until they expanded Game Pass to PC....This was the final nail in the coffin for XBOX imo.
I actually got an XBOX One S as a promotion when I bought my wife some jewelry at Kay's Jewelry for Christmas one year. They literally through it in with a $500 purchase, and I was kind of confused about it, but I took it home anyway. Set it up...found my old XBOX live account, and got game pass...I think I had the 1 S for maybe....a year? Sold it to a guy on Facebook that wanted to game but lost his job and sold everything to pay bills, so I gave it to him for like $100. The smile on the guys face brought me more enjoyment then the XBOX ever could, he even game me a hug...a total stranger. That's how much a FREE XBOX meant to me...granted it was an S...but still...I had a PC and PS4, Switch at the time.
Game Pass is also on PC, but yet MOST PC gamers (myself included) have steam...Steam costs NOTHING to use. It's just a video game hub/shop, but I get to CHOOSE what I want. Game Pass decides for you with a collection of games and I would say 40% of what I had on Game Pass...was garbage...Sony isn't immune to this either to some extent.
So if Microsoft wants to expand their gaming on XBOX and get some SERIOUS numbers...they need to make Game Pass more like Steam and ditch the cost attached. A Game Hub where I can purchase PC/XBOX games at the crazy steam discounts we are used to. This way I can play online...collect my games...play on PC or XBOX whichever I choose....and build my library of games I want. I buy it on PC...play it there....or XBOX...doesn't matter. I don't need 100 titles where maybe 1/2 of those are good. I didn't like Game Pass when I had it, and I don't miss my XBOX at all. PC, PS5, and Switch pretty much let me play everything on the market. Microsofts XBOX division has no idea how to sell an XBOX to people that already have a PC. If you have a PC...you pretty much have and XBOX...don't waste $500...if you don't have a PC...then maybe. But if Microsoft wants to sell more XBOX's...then they need to GET IN GEAR if they want to be competitive with market share. The XBOX series X/S is shaping up to be one of the WORST generations for XBOX.

A terrible one
It'll be interesting to see how hard they press the advertising for this, because - as things stand (and assuming there isn't something in the small print) - it's hard to see how they could put much of a positive spin on something like this.
