Welp, the Xbox version is dead in the water. What were they thinking?

I mean they aren't wrong, Prior and as of this new CEO taking over XIV has become more predatory. The company has become more predatory lmao. Like we have FF7R, and them holding story behind gatcha games, XIV Putting way more content on the cash shop over just letting us earn it in game. The NFT and Crypto focus the CEO himself has. Not to mention SE losing 2 billion. So while it's not solely FFXIV, SE isn't doing great and charging us more money as a result.

It's still conjecture in regards to 14. To be fair, 14 has always had tons of cash shop items and fomo, etc. At least to me, nothing has changed on that end.

But back on topic, we were told one thing, and we got another one is about the only solid thing we know, and even then, it could be false. Or the noise between now and whenever the official Xbox version might change it to being free. And that we do have evidence of back when Microsoft tried to hike the rate of Xbox Live. The community said absolutely not loud enough, and Microsoft caved and didn't raise the price. They might've later. I honestly don't care about Microsoft outside of Windows on my PC, but still. Now is the time. Speak with your wallet and shout from the rooftops. Otherwise, pay up. And when they get away with PSN, they will follow as they did with the original Xbox Live.

FFXIV's xbox playerbase will literally be such a tiny tiny minority of people it doesnt even matter, if you think they care you are so wrong, nor are you going to get a "massive uproar" considering it'll make like 0.5% of the game population if even that much. You can speak with your wallet all you want, it wont change the outcome, it's the way it's going to be.

I don't remember. I try to forget that game as much as I can.

So I looked it up, and it did not have two subscriptions. Which makes sense. I didn't enjoy what I played, but I definitely wouldn't have paid two subscriptions for it.

no, thats conjecture. because youre speaking as if your personal experience is THE experience, and anybody saying otherwise is wrong because you dont notice it. and you dont allow people to come in with examples either you just dismiss it and block. and you did so assuming i was refering to cashshop and the fomo, which isnt even the case or full extent of the issue!

You realize that because you didn't notice the changes, that means they did a good enough job of hiding them right? Like SE is most likely getting paid more money if they are gonna charge ya'll more money, thats how these deals work lmfao.

I already said it multiple times on this forum and got laughed at for it, the xbox release isnt going to bring that many players to the game, honestly, i'd say compared to the entire playerbase, it'll be barely anything, the people that wanted to play FFXIV for the past few years invested in either a PS4/5 or on a low cost PC (or a decent PC), they had ample time to find a console or PC that works with FFXIV, this xbox release will do nothing to the sub numbers or barely nothing, certain people pretended that "xbox is going to make dynamis be a good dc and bring it to life !!"

If anything, it's just going to be a lot of people without keyboards that you'll struggle to guide through dungeons. It'll really just cement our DC as the place you don't want to be if you're serious about doing content, even if it's casual content.

im curious what ffxiv devs/ yoshi P will say about this, if anything. i have a sad feeling he couldnt stop this going ahead, cemeneted even more by the ceo being at fanfest and shaking his hand while yoshiP smiled uncomfortably. ffxiv becomming squares best selling game was ironically the worst thing to ever happen to it. i want to hope the devs are internally unhappy about these changes being made to the game, and that they dont support them

I know Yoshi doesn't really have much of an idea of what happens in the game or how the community works outside of JP, but he's still more attuned to it than the rest of SE. It would've been best for them to work with him, rather than pressure him into a deal that put him at the mercy of another big corporation.

Actually FFXI on 360 was the only game to somehow dodge needing Xbox Live Gold for online, just a standard Xbox Live Silver account which was every account.

in the end all we can do is let this run its course, let them continue to make bad changes to the game, and then maybe finally when theres hardly anybody left, theyll back off and give it back to yoshiP without the need to peer over it like a hawk. ofcourse, this is all just assumptions that yoshiP isnt okay with all of this, for all we know. he doesnt mind. but. i find that hard to belive given his love for gaming

No, that stuff has been there for years. People were complaining about that new outfit when the Cid outfit had been there for about 5 years, and it's a worse item overall. Abusive Fomo and pay to convince retainers. You act like this is new.

its honestly a shame. the have some really talented industry giants working there. (nomura, sakaguchi, yokotaro, matsuno, akira toriyama) why not invest in another big franchise instead of these easy cash grabs
