Would you pay for instanced housing

..got me wondering. would you pay for this monthly ontop of your sub? would this drive you away...

No I wouldn't because I don't really care for Housing that much.
I had a house since 3.3 until early this year, (had to drop my sub due to RL f-ed me real bad and lost it because of that. came back in Nov after I got it all sorted again) and the excitement for having one, the joy of decorating and gardening wore off faster than I thought. At the end of Stormblood it literally became a housing item dump spot, never to be really used again.
Housing might just not be for me though.

Why would we need to pay an additional fee when housing already is mostly instanced, SE just chose a messed up supply chain?

If the question was what would get me to pay additional for housing in this game, I'd say give me RIFT Dimensions using FFXIV art aesthetic and locations. That had enough features that housing in this game lacks that it would be worth an extra $5 on my subscription to me (not sure how others would feel).

I'm a housing addict, so sure. Some cash shop exclusive instanced houses in ESO cost 85€ (each) and I have a few of them besides the ones that cost Gold.
The best thing about instanced houses is that neighbors can't ruin my view with boring empty yards and ugly styles like cringerbread.

And I thought RIFT was on the predatory side when they charged $10 worth of store credits for some of their premium Dimensions. OUCH!

I don't think they should charge anything, they should fix the broken system. At most, some people might pay for additional houses past the first.

All that said, they won't do anything. They've shown zero interest in fixing the system for almost a decade now.

I wouldn't even want instanced housing for free, it's just completely boring.

Housing is already instanced, if you mean to make it so all "houses" are just an individual plot in your own zone, that won't help anything and is just current housing but with your house instance including a yard. You'd still run into issue of not enough available for everyone. The issue is with how housing was built and uses server resources. If they want to make it so there are enough houses for everyone, they need to rebuild housing from the ground up to be optimized for the intent of every player, no matter how big the game gets, being able to own a house. Which if they did that, they could keep whole neighborhood concept and still have enough houses for everyone.

No, they need to overhaul the housing system. ESO and Rift have better systems. Every player in those mmos can own a house, and they have different sizes. Hell in Rift you can build your own house.

I admire the conviction, but what about retainer? And assuming OP isn't meaning buying FC houses for shell use, then I would assume that selling a house is essentially selling cosmetics.
