You have our position kind of backwards, though.I agree with this, Dragoons don't have Dragon wings or fangs (beyond the skill name).
Ninja doesn't even have a poison and no one bats an eye.
Vipers are animals that strike with speed and from a hiding spot.
If anything just limiting ourselves to poison would be generic and uninspired.
Devs also have to put gameplay first before introducing a poison for poison's sakes.
Complaining because Viper doesn't have poison is just finding any excuses to complain.
It's not that we necessarily wanted or needed a poison job.
It's that naming a job with clearly poisonous connotations without intending to deliver on that is just poorly thought out design. If it has no poison, there are a dozen other nonvenomous animals they could have named the job after to much clearer and stronger effect. Hawk. Panther. Etc.

Im having a hard time coming up with something different that doesnt sound generic like Dualblade or Swordmaster.
I think Viper is just going to be one of those where we'll quickly get used to it.
Hunter. Not quite as generic and far more fitting for both the job and the broader FF aesthetic/lore. There ya go.
I'm bit torn... yes something like Swordmaster or Dual Blade w/e would sound generic but that's what most FF jobs sound like if you think about it. You have stuff like Dancer, Bard, Warrior, Fighter, Monk...
Viper just reminds me of that sports car instead of a battle job(?) lol
Even if the job ends up being thematically snake themed with venom, FFTA's Assassin job would have fit the bill naming wise perfectly
I dunno, I'm fine with Viper as a name. I'd be more or less fine with anything that isn't "Blademaster", "Swordmaster", "Twinblade", "Ranger" etc honestly. I mean, even "Hunter" sounds generic to me honestly, which isn't to say any of them are bad, just that they don't strike me as better than Viper.
A missed chance now that i think of it.
Considering this is the New World and all, calling the Job "Montaraz" (Spanish for Ranger) would have been great. Spice it up along that spanish guitar in the trailer.
Get Viggo Mortensen to voice some character. Put more horse mounts. You know.

"The will of my friends has etched into my heart, and now ill transform this infinite darkness into eternal light
Unmatched in heaven and earth, one body and one soul that challenge the gods!"
That doesnt work because when people think of Hunter they think of bow or gun wielders. Like in WoW. Not dual bladed warriors that can convert their blades into swallows.
Um.
WoW Hunters have access to swords and polearms and can dual wield.
The most iconic Dungeons and Dragons character (if we want to go back to the origin of modern fantasy) Drizzt, is a dual-sword Ranger/Hunter.
Typically, what most people think of as a Ranger/Hunter is not limited to a specific weapon but more as being skilled in multiple weapons. But easily the two most common archetypes are some sort of bow, or some sort of dual wielding sword/axe thing.
