Alliance Raid Gear too boring

Yeah, after the first two raids were very distinctly Nald'thal and Menphina-themed, I was hoping that we'd get another specific god-themed one or even...

What if this is a big fake-out and they're actually giving us gear themed after the final boss, the thirteenth of the Twelve?

Obviously this gear has come from somewhere, but maybe it's the dungeon gear.

Give me glorious rainbow-cloth robes in the Watcher's colour scheme please!

Not impressed with healer's & caster's. Robes robes robes robes and rooooooobbbeess. I at least hope the skirt portion is separate from the chest's piece :hopium:.

Also, with all these circlets they kept handing out, it makes me think that's their 'solution' to Hroth's and Viera's ear clipping issues: don't make anything that actually clips.

I think the first set was fine, but they're all way too similar at this point.

I mean to be honest I find it really hard to like a lot of gear sets in this game anyway, tend to struggle trying to get the "right" gear for each job.

The only way the healer robes get redeemed in my eyes is if the cape is a pants option

Full robes with generic pants (or for females a literal thong in the case of the 70 AF gear) that are covered by said robes is getting tiring

Agreed on Ivalice. I really wish we'd get some kind of alliance-unreal one day, where the reward is dyeable gear from those raids released via some kind of coin shop or something, idk.
The Endwalker alliance raid gear has been a huge miss for me this whole time. Aglaia had some okay healer/caster robes that I wore for like, a few days. But those aside, I've had no desire to farm anything. Even the minions were kind of "whatever" since it's not like they included my deity as one, and the ones they did pick weren't super interesting to me.

It's a bummer 'cause I looked at the previews of the upcoming raid's set and I felt nothing about those either. So I guess I'll log in and just hope the content's fun enough to warrant multiple runs on its own merit. I won't totally discount the possibility. Before I stopped playing, I used to run Ivalice all the time just for sheer enjoyment. And before the moogle tome event, the queues to get in always took forever because 1 person running content for fun alone doesn't fill a 24 man squad. Usually when a new alliance raid comes out, I'm super excited to log in the night it releases and do a day 1 blind run and everything, but this time it's hard to even summon the motivation for that. The scenery looks cool, but it's just hard for me to get excited after Euphrosyne. Menphina's the deity I picked for my character, and I'd been looking forward to fighting her for over a year after I learned we'd be battling the 12. But it turned out she was just a hybrid clone of e9 and e10. Big floating lady with left/right cleaves, and a big dog with left/right cleaves, with a mechanic designed to interrupt your burst. I was so underwhelmed that I couldn't even be bothered to do it weekly, and this is coming from someone who usually enjoys the crap out of 24man raids. Hell, the other euphrosyne bosses weren't even much better. People were gushing over Nophica's design, and her arena looked really nice, but the actual fight was super intuitive, like it didn't even try to trip the player up. The second boss having an enrage was cool, but the timer was insanely generous; I've still never seen the enrage animation myself, and I did it blind on the first day in the first 30 minutes of its release. Only the third boss was a fun fight imo. All the other ones spent so much time "teaching" you their mechanics and then died before they could layer anything or do anything cool, which made for a 24man raid that we could complete on day 1, blind, with no wipes at all; and by that afternoon, the dutyfinder roulette was running it flawlessly. Feelsbadman.

But I've rambled enough. I agree with you op. The outfits look hella mid. The raid will be relying heavily on its actual mechanics to save it, and ... yeah. Who knows. Maybe it'll be another Orbonne. But if it's another Euphrosyne, then that'll be hella disappointing.

Have to admit, whilst the new Raid set is.... uninspiring by their own merits, they do look like a blend of the Aglaia and Euphrosyne sets and therefore should mix & match fairly well with both.

About the only piece of gear from any alliance raid that I've liked was the Copied Factory caster dress (and I'd like it better if I could use it for dancer glam, but I digress). I've used one or two other pieces here and there, but never a whole set. Most of them feel either bland and generic (Nier, Ivalice) or overdesigned and covered in too much stuff.

Also still think they missed an opportunity with the Paradigm's Breach sets, the tank gear should've been the YoRHa assault armor from Route C of Nier Automata, but that's another thread.

I'll put my tinfoil hat on and say they don't care anymore if the default appearance of gear sets is dull and generic looking cuz we're getting double dyes in 7.0 anyway.

I enjoyed all three of the 24 man and also the series of 8 mans. EW has the best set of normal raid sets for my tastes outside Edengate from ShB and Republican from PvP. I have a love if Holy/Divine and Greek themed sets so happy as can be.
