You don't need voice comms to follow a marker and a countdown macro. Both are totally redundant if you're an experienced player.

I'd argue that voice only helps with actual green horns that need to be lead and babysitted at all times.

People that queue into those specific stompy DRK/DRG premades are not green horns. They don't need comms to work efficiently either.

Right, they don't need voice chat because they already know the game plan. They're queuing into matches knowing what job each is going to play, the combo they're going to abuse, and how it's going to be coordinated. They don't have to worry about ending up on a team that doesn't have others playing the necessary jobs, or if they do that those players are willing or capable of sufficiently coordinating those cheap combos.

... which all sounds a lot like a distinct advantage over solo queuing.

Agreed that with more experience, voice becomes less of a relative edge, but one doesn't need to speculate about its efficacy. There are YouTube videos that illustrate the devastation. Besides, isn't it self-evident that stopping to pop a macro into chat like "DRK LB ready" is far less efficient than voicing "LB in 3...2..." to three associates who are primed and ready? In other words, an experienced premade may not *need* voice (which illustrates why they're a problem!), but with it they are even more effective.
