Only from what I've seen global chat channels turn into, I would still be against.
The awareness and use of the party search and forming tools. How can we encourage people to use these tools until 2.0?

We have a 'search' function where you can put up your status and what exactly you need to get done...now if you pass this info along to your friends and they pass it on to there's...just maybe more ppl will start using it, and while you're grinding away at your crafts ppl will see what you need and invite accordingly...the 'search' option is only as good as ppl are willing to make it if they use it. Its not the best but the only way it will improve is if ppl actually take time to use it and see where it needs improvement.SE, can you consider implementing a new worldwide shout channel so that I can be anywhere in Eorzea but still able to know what type of parties are being formed. To prevent from spamming this channel, restrict the people who are able to send messages in this channel to those who have formed a party and waiting to recruit members.
With this feature, I don't have to camp in Uldah all day to wait to join a CC party. I can craft in Limsa but still be able to join raids if and when a suitable one come along.
Make this a separate channel from /shout so for those who don't like to see such worldwide receuitment messages they can shut it off

CHANGE ,,, my brain can't compute .. *runs out the room screaming*Oh Christ here we go again about global chat channels. Perfectly legitimate suggestion and immensely useful with zero drawbacks, and we're going to have a bunch of people crapping all over the idea because they can't imagine that global chat channels can be turned off or filtered.
I used to keep ffxiah shout feature on my ipad, it was a godsend being out anywehre and joining groups as such. i have more faith in guildworks to come up with it more then se.
Here's the reason I have an issue with a Global Chat, it's why it would be used. The OP is requesting a new chat to reach out to players for events and groups because the search function sucks.
A new chat feature to compinsate for a crappy search feature is equivilant to putting a bandaid on a broken leg.
I believe a better approach to this is to attack the problem directly. Why would we ask the DEVs to create a new chat to cover their poor coding of "Search" when we should ask them to FIX SEARCH! If done properly with the correct commands and pull-down boxes, I should be able to get 95% of what I need out of "Search", thus eliminating the requirement for chat all together.
For the sake of those "RP'ers" out there, no one can shout that loud.
Really wish all the shouters would move to the Adventurer's Guild and just "Say" there. All the LFG's could go there. I avoid Ul'dah as much as possible as I can't stand the spam and lag.
my perspective is as follows:
we now have a good system in place where a player can set up a party indicating the type of party (raid, quest etc), the type of jobs, the levels.
The major flaw in this system is that its difficult to find members because people don't look at what parties are being formed out there.
Hence party leaders have to resort to /shouts in the most populated area of the server to recruit members.
We need the recruitment info to be PUSHED to players. I can also filter the type of messages to limit the amount of unwanted info that appears on my screen
For example, I log in today and have 2 hours to play. I want to either level up my level35 gla or go to CC with either English speaking or JP speaking party as a WHM or THM. I can only play until 2200 GMT. I enter these conditions in my LFP screen
A window will then pop up and show me the available parties put there. If there's nothing available or suitable, i can leave the window open and it will keep refreshing, say, every minute. Once something nice pops up, I can click on it to join the party.
For those who said /shout is unrealistic, i would also say being able to /search the whole server is also unrealistic ad well
It's simple... Create 2-3 chat channels (Trade/Recruit/Etc) and make it so that these channels can be used by anyone within one of the major towns. This will not only alleviate the issue with communication but it will also get people out of Ul'Dah.
Get this, it's like that now, except you're also trapped in Ul'dah if you want to find a party.
