i agree. i don't want to be in Uldah but I still want to know if someone is making an event which i am interested, WITHOUT having to interrupt my current activities to trigger the search window

You must be on that mythic server where 90% of shout chat is intelligent conversation as opposed to retarded dribble. I envy you.
This feature will only help you. It will never hinder you. Nay-saying such a feature is quite frankly an act of pure ignorance.

We already have the Search feature, it really needs to work with a Seeking party term requirement, I see blank Seeking Party reqs and don't bother, this would prevent spamming, prevent lag in log delivery and better connect players all over Eorzea...just that NOBODY is using this feature....SE need to really work on this part of FFXIV especially to improve the MMO ideology
Hello,
Yes, please. Let's enhance the party search abilities so we can seek and setup parties with a lot more ease, rather than resorting to 'shout' as a workaround for the true problem. I am hopeful this will be sorted out for 2.0 (as part of 'Content Manager' but focused on the same server).
For now, perhaps we need a quest, tutorial, event, or achievements for using the Party Search system as an incentive!
You have successfully invited 1000 people to your party thorugh party search. (As opposed to /pcmd add).
You have successfully seeked a party 1000 times.
You have received 1000 party invites while seeking.
Reward: Party Animal Hat. +10 Minute Duration of effect from drinks.

^ This.I like /shout. It's a realistic feature.
I don't like the global shout feature because
A. Causes unwanted spam
B. Unwanted topics
It would also make shout kind of pointless because people will go the global chat to recruit for parties and whatnot. The plus people talking about random bs... My opinion, I don't think it's needed. We already have a search feature that NO ONE seems to use.
Lets not take yet another dump on immersion, shall we?
In any case, considering the content finder there's no way they are implementing this.
They should include this, and perhaps call them "Public Linkshells" to alleviate whatever irrational reasons people have for disliking this idea.

You know basicly the op wants to know how to use search ....

Here's the reason I have an issue with a Global Chat, it's why it would be used. The OP is requesting a new chat to reach out to players for events and groups because the search function sucks.
A new chat feature to compinsate for a crappy search feature is equivilant to putting a bandaid on a broken leg.
I believe a better approach to this is to attack the problem directly. Why would we ask the DEVs to create a new chat to cover their poor coding of "Search" when we should ask them to FIX SEARCH! If done properly with the correct commands and pull-down boxes, I should be able to get 95% of what I need out of "Search", thus eliminating the requirement for chat all together.
For the sake of those "RP'ers" out there, no one can shout that loud.
Really wish all the shouters would move to the Adventurer's Guild and just "Say" there. All the LFG's could go there. I avoid Ul'dah as much as possible as I can't stand the spam and lag.Tucked away in the interface sub forum, but a step in the right direction. We're planning on implementing a party search tutorial quest in version 2.0. The whole concept for when you take your first steps into Eorzea will be different than how it is currently. Everything will be a tutorial quest and easy to follow guide so players can learn easier and quicker.
I also passed along all of your feedback on how to make the party search UI easier to find. Thank you!~
Obviously we are getting content finder in 2.0 also so that will help for finding dungeon and instanced content.
If they could further expand the content finder to work with making XP parties there would be almost no reason to shout for a party any more.
Not really as I proved above the need to shout will be lessened when given the correct features to use, I would sooner see a system that allows for easy match making than one where everybody spams in a chat channel.

No 'channels' at all please....

read the OP he stated make this channel only accessible to party leaders, though you may still get the occasional chatter it would probably be very minimal
