Meteion was right/ req

First before i go into why she was completely right, first a simple request meteion glamor thats dyeable so I can make it all black.

Meteion is 100% in the story, and the story proves it we dont over come despair we just brought them all back (seriously should have left the scions dead to leave an empact but i guess cant do that because the fan service for y'shotla you always have to ass pull her alive and unharmed)


Anyways meteion is 100% correct you can't ever escape despair all you can do is try to avoid the inevitable, and try to avoid it but you cant ever get true happiness what you find will fade when you are betrayed and turned on that is just nature, so honestly we should have let her destroy the world, there is no peace outside of death all there is, is misary suffering life isn't a gift that is good its a curse forced upon us, there is only joy in death. so Meteion was 100% correct while dark meteion is. Also honestly the entire story of endwalkers wasn't as dark as it should be it had 2 much comedy shit and wasted to much time with jokes in the story and should have had more people actrually suffering and let the scions stay dead let despair in because it cant be beaten

With all honesty I don't give a damn about Meteion but when we fight her and the scions do go go go power of friendship crap it felt so cringe like really that's all ? 10 years for the end of the story to be beaten so easily because for like 30%-40% of the fight she just get beaten to death. I felt 0 achievement from this fight, no feeling what so ever. Hades was cool because almost everyone could have died everyone struggle. Warrior of Light was cool because it had goals , a meaning and it felt like an actual threat. But Meteion apparently you just have to be "Eh it's fine im not scared" and she dies pitifully

Granted, it is implied that she adopted her bird form permanently, but regardless - post Endsinger, the Scions clearly stated that Meteion had visited the Ragnarok/them to let them know that the Warrior of Light was on their way back, though she wasn't aware of the death battle occurring between the WoL and Zenos at the time.
And it's implied - or we're supposed to assume - that it is her we see taking flight following the scene where the Scions 'part ways'.

Not sure it would make much difference if we did; her "before I fall forever silent" comment does tend to suggest that, even if we did see her, it'd be in her bird form.

Everyone argueing in this direction treats Meteion as a force of nature villian but that would imply she has no agency. At the same time you are agreeing with her.

Why is bird girl special? I mean: Why can only she inflict despair with the point being "you must overcome it". By that logic everyone can commit any crime. Slaughter, sundering, withholding the truth, become crystal mom, all justified. Why couldn't the story have us kill almost all Garleans then? 'Just overcome that despair yo!' Not gonna even dive into what this would mean if you apply that logic in RL.

Umm... na. I would rather stick with the hopeful nature of EW's story thanks. So long as you can find that spark, be it in your friends or even somthing as small as a cup of coffee in the morning, life will always be worth it.

Do agree a glam would be cool, though no doubt it would be added as an barley customisable Store item... thats where despairer truly lays!

I feel like op might not be trolling and maybe this is his first jRPG or something. OP, if you enjoyed meteion, check this tv tropes page and have fun because variations of her schtick are super common. Granted, Meteion is definitely a more sympathetic take on the trope, but still, you'll probably find a lot of media you'll enjoy in here if you give it a look.

That said, I do agree that the writers could've done a better job of disproving the antagonist's argument beyond having the main characters just yell platitudes at the villain and then finally blow her up in a cool level 90 Trial. Maybe... give them actual despair to overcome? I didn't feel like it happened enough. For example, there's a part where we're supposed to be worried that everyone's dead, but let's be real nobody actually thought SE would have the balls to kill off every scion. They overplayed the hand and the story's climax suffered for it imo. This story hasn't had the balls to kill any main characters in years, so a story that's supposed to be about dealing with the lowest lows kind of feels out of place. Yeah, we the audience might be told that the characters are worried, but we as players are feeling nothing because we know nothing really bad's gonna happen because nothing really bad ever happens. Or the part where Zenos takes over our body and proceeds to basically do nothing meaningful with it, and then just hands it back. He could've done some actual damage, you know? That would've been pretty bad, if he'd used our body to maim or maybe even kill a scion or something. Imagine overcoming that level of despair and then going into the meteion fight. All of a sudden, lines like "we've been there before" actually resonate because they have authenticity. Or, going back to past expansions, look at areas of stormblood that could've been really really gritty and dark if they'd fleshed it out even a little bit. Krile's whole kidnapping arc where the echo basically trauma dumps hundreds of victims over her psyche and she just bounces back like a minute later, the whole black rose threat, etc. But instead none of that gets to breathe either. After going through Shb's Weapon questline, I feel like there are side characters who deal with more despair than the main scions do. I just think it says a lot when every time they have to remind us of "hard times" for the scions they flash back to heavensward because it's just been that long since anyone meaningful actually bit the dust. The fistfight with Zenos had more impact to me, because for all his superficiality, at least Zenos and his whole conflict feels genuine.

idk though, I want to say a large part of my issue with the story also stems from the sheer length of it, and from how hard it is to sort of marathon it all before a new expansion drops. With any other long running series, I'd rewatch it to get a refresher on everything that happened, but doing this in ff14 requires like 400 hours of fetch quest bullshit so I never bother going back. It's entirely possible that I just forgot some nugget of genuine hardcore despair that might've made thancred's "We've been here before!!" line really resonate. As it stands though, the expac's climactic encounter with meteion felt hella hollow and empty and I bet it feels even worse for first timers now that the fight ends before she can even speak lol
