Can 7.0 focus on a storyline without the philosophizing

And who exactly derailed this thread into a fight? We were having a nice conversation about the game's storyline before elements like you and Jojoya came in.

Why is it that elements like you always jump into threads like these and start fighting then ask why people are fighting?

Tsuchii was the very first person to say something to you calling what you said rage bait on the first page...yet me and Jojo are the ones that derailed it? See...I don't like to alt accuse. But they did show up as someone who's been here quite a while in the forums. Basically coining the whole "bad faith" deal and it's been used far more more since they've been around (from what I've seen). I can only say it's very interesting.

On that note though, thread is pretty much dead.

The Scions have really become walking examples of DMNPC's with +20 Knowledge of everything and if the players are stumped in what to do then the DMNPC just drops all the answers.

I personally quit WoW because all the heroes are literal DMNPC's that always swoop in and steal your kill on almost every final boss of the expansion.

Sure, here we actually kill the big bad ourselves but there is the issue that the DM is literally holding your hand and leading you to where you need to go to progress in the story with DMNPC's that gives you the answer to everything and has connections to very powerful people that is always willing to drop everything and help you.

The amount of handholding really does need to stop. Y'shtola is particularly obnoxious about this and her personality can pretty much be summed up as explaining the obvious right now. The writing has lacked subtlety for a while now and every plot point seems to need to be spelled out in detail in case the player doesn't get it.

My main issue with the Scions. They're just so homogenous, it doesn't make their friendship feel earned. They're just an echo chamber who agree on every single subject (which happens to be whatever the author at the time thinks is the correct moral answer), they never fight in meaningful ways, they almost all come from a single background. The one source of tension has been the same since HW: Urianger betrays them for the greater good. That's it.

There's more going on with Cloud and Barett at the beginning of OG FFVII (or Zidane and Steiner in IX, or Wakka and everyone in X) than the Scions for the entire duration of XIV.

I wouldn't say the entire duration of FF14, for there certainly was some level of animosity between Estinien and Alphinaud in HW, and Alisaie and Alphinaud in ARR (though that really was mostly Alphinaud back-handedly insulting his sister). But since the resolution of HW it seems like there is next to no drama between the Scions.

If it's because they have matured as individuals, that's fine but 7.0 should move on from the Scions in that case. G'raha Tia has largely resolved his character arc so I'm extremely skeptical he would be a compelling character in 7.0. Krile on the other hand I'm willing to wait and see. Nevertheless, if it's just the Scions all over again it'll make 7.0 probably the dullest story yet in terms of character development.

My expectations for 7.0 are pretty low regardless of whether the Scions will be taking part. 6.0 destroyed my faith in the writers, and 6.x destroyed my hope that it was a one-time occurrence.

Sadly, they can't just shut it down without a good business reason or unless they somehow have a new golden goose that can carry all the other projects and also sacrifice it's own resources on SE's wasteful endeavors. They have had multiple flops and FF14 is mostly the only thing keeping the company afloat and what is keeping FFXIV afloat? The paying customers.

Thing is every expansions quantity is getting less and less and now patches only drop every 4 months with droplets of content. Quality of the content is also getting lessened. I don't think this is a good example to what a game company should be like, yes they have some good points but they also have bad points as well.
