Now that FF16 will feature LGBT+ characters, can we get some rep in FF14 too?

I think there are multiple ways to have a trans character without making it crude.
A character with a female body but uses male prounons? (One Piece did this, not without controversy though)
Or a Sundered Ascian who prefers to use male bodies despite their initial body being female.
Or a character who regularly changes gender through Fantasia.
Or showing that a character used to pass as another gender as a side-note through an echo flashback.

Of course Square Enix is not forced to do it, but if they wanted to it could be done tastefully.

I mean yeah, Alisae suddenly saying that out of nowhere would, indeed, be in your face.

But as random examples?(Not saying I want this to happen)

-Estinien turns down Zero. Mentions he's not interested in relationships. That could be a gentle way to show he's ace
-Alphinaud blushes like Zero did when seeing a shirtless dude.
-G'raha admits to having a crush on the WoL, which would make him bi depending on the player char
-Alisae already seem to mega crush on the WoL
-Uriage(I can't spell his name i'm sorry) just suddenly starts being refereed to by they/them, because off screen he asked the other scions to, and at one point when you say 'he' he's like "Ah, wilst though say 'they', for it is a better fit". Unless a single line is forced too?
-As a non-scion example, we just meet someone with a seemingly male body who is refereed to as she. Though from my experience that makes a lot of gamers really mad(Baulder's gate 2 expansion drama, had a character who 4-5 text choices down the line would say they used to be a boy. Made gamers extremely mad to the point they mad mods to murder the character.)

Not saying it should happen, but it happening when(afaik) none of them have canon sexualities could work, and would be realistic. Though no matter how it's done people would see it as forced because they have their own headcanon.

and while yes, you are correct, it does happen in life, but writing it in tastefully and getting the point of it across is virtually impossible without having some npc running around in your face about it. how would any of the scions coming out, or any of the other major npc's be written so it actually relates to the story at this point? or is even relevant? most people playing, even members of those communities.. dont care, and have no need to see it. as a member of that side of things, all these threads are posted for is to stir up drama, nothing more.

Saying there's no way to have it happen without it being forced is kinda unimaginative, no offense. There's lots of ways, the limit is the writer's imagination. I'd much rather a new character, though, to adding it to an old one, if only because it gets exhausting seeing people use it as proof there's some weird agenda(Not saying you or the other person are saying this)

Edit: Random trans idea? A jerk character who knew the twins when they were young makes a snide "You and your sister" to Alisae, revealing Alphinaud is transmasc. Doesn't have to be brought up at all really, just a "Yo leave the boy alone" and show it changes nothing.

Well said on thos remarks. Characters like Estinien, G'raha, Alisae have not really even show any interest in the opposit sex/romance anyway, so I really do not think them turning out to be LGBTQ+ would be some magical switch. Like you said, there are a lot of imaganitive ways writers can show thses things without it being forced. Mistakes of other studios handling does not mean these should be considered 'taboo' topics to explore.

How... how does their post say anything like that? All they suggest is like, one off lines at most. Theres more sexuality being expose in NPCs talking about Thancred being a ladies man, Krile teasing Alphinaud about how he would be embaressed around girls, and not to mention Urianger’s arc with Moenbryda ect.

the problem, which western people tend to gloss over, is the game is meant to be available in many countries with many cultures and many people of differing values on ratings boards. something benign in one country/culture could be a raging fire in another. sure, its a grand idea in concept, but in reality, would never fly. so SE and the writing direction, would never implement the concept in a mmo that it intends to have broad appeal.

and yeah, its a "fine request" until you actually check all the other "requests" along these lines that the OP and his multitude of alts have put forth. the first one, had it been in good faith, would have been a fine request, but repeatedly? its now just trying to cause drama and be in your face about it.

I am more talking that it's sort of forced, at least the original idea is, if you really think about it, there is no need for any of what I quoted in my previous post to happen, now if you want to make new characters (and please god i hope that happens, msq is so boring at this point with the same characters all the time) and for the new characters to be gay,bi or trans or whatever else, there's too many genders at this point but you get the idea, I'm all for it, as long as it's done in a smooth way without forcing it
