The game is incomplete and the amount of unexplored threads in the lore and places that are we haven't gone to yet are indicative of only one thing: preparing for DLCs down the road.
Nothing really important happens in Iron Kingdom or The North in the Eikon War past what we get in game.
IK were effectively declawed when they lost their dominant, their crystal, and their leader. The North got simultaneously eaten by the blight and stamped out by the Empire.
Someone earlier mentioned a Royal Edition and honestly thats more in line with what I see happening eventually after the PC port. imo the only loose threads you can reasonably squeeze DLC purchases out of are:
1. Cid leaving the legion of doom and/or trying to destroy Oriflamme's crystal if they want a half-prime Dion fight I guess
2. Whatever tf happened to Levi
Regardless, XIV won't likely change much from our current content pattern. Base xpac will have 6 dungeons, 6 zones, tome caps, odd patch 24 man raids, even patch 8 man raids, etc. Could be fun to have Maehiro back as one of the writers for the .x patches tho.
