I had this happen with 8800 Ultra as well... SE?
Not really an SE issue, it is a Driver problem. For now, just turn off Ambient Occlusion. The issue has been reported and ManuelG has said the driver team will investigate the issue. As for myself, SLI seems to wreck havoc with this game. I crash no matter where I am or what I do. Drivers need major help.

I don't get many crashes except for when I am in Uldah but I think I fixed it by turning off SYNC. Drivers still lacking but can't wait for the fixes cuz this card is bad ass.

We know it's not SE's fault, but they gotta put pressure at nvidia to make them care about it. Regarding SLI, there is no gain with SLI and final fantasy xiv, besides crashes. That's why I sold my sli 480 gtx back then and got one gtx 580. Worked wonders.now got the gtx 680 and crashes started due to the directx bug.

There are gains with SLI. When I had GTX470 SLI I never dropped from 60 FPS. Also had zero issues with SLI till the 600 Series. When I went to a single GTX580 I was anywhere from 40FPS to 60FPS.

Now I have GTX680 SLI with the latest Beta and I have yet to have issues. I had AO and DoF Disabled during the testing for that. Will have it Enabled for today to see what happens. Was also always at a constant 60 FPS.

I do not think the Drivers were my real issue. I actually had a 24 Pin Melt Down and was getting a voltage drop that would go all the way to 10.33 Volts on the 12 Volt line before the Computer would crash.

I tested the sli during beta phase and there was no gains because of constant crashes. I dont know now after the patches if they did something for sli. I know nvidia didn't. All drivers never mentioned improvement to final fantasy using sli. I deactivated ambient occlusion and it seems the crash with 680 sli stopped. It is a band aid fix, and we need a fix for that. Ambient occlusion gives a great look to the game and for us that spent that much on this card is a must to have on.

I have two GTX680s in SLI. I did have constant crashing (sometimes once every 5min) with driver 301.10 but that problem has disappeared completely once I disabled Depth of Field and Ambient Occlusion, as well as, uninstalled Precision X. I have not had a DirectX crash since.

301.24beta works fine as well. I had to install this because DisplayPort was broken for my monitor (Samsung S27A750D) in recent versions.

Perhaps it's a CPU issue. I have a strong but older processor (i7-920) but maybe it just couldn't keep up with the increased load I'm giving them with this game.

More like directx problem. Nvidia gotta sorta this one out with Microsoft. Final fantasy uses directx 9 and that's where the problem lies. Having to play this game with ambient occlusion off is ridiculous. Specially after shelling $600 on this card to max the game
