yes DoF and AO should best be not used. it causes crashes

For those having issues..... this is an nvidia issue NOT to a SE/FFXIV issue. This kinda stuff happens fairly often with new video cards, most inparticular new video cards of newer architecture or of a new series..... being that the 680 is the first card from the 600 series these kinda things were almost inevitable to happen to one game or another. IMO i dont see why people jump on the newest cards as soon as they are released.....they are sooo expensive and the drivers are almost always not optimized for the card (or are very buggy). Another thing too (and tbis is just me ranting) they are still coming out with newer drivers that increase the fps in upwards of 20-35% in certain games for the 400 and 500 series graphics cards.
Because I'm yet to see a single video card that can handle this game on max. Plus it's eye candy, plus I love new tech. Anyway, it was said before, it isn't SE's fault, but when a dev puts pressure, means fast solution, rather than random ppl. Who will nvidia listen to? SE, or random ppl having problems? That's my two centsFor those having issues..... this is an nvidia issue NOT to a SE/FFXIV issue. Driver team is already looking into it as well.

Just a heads up, I had no crashes for a week with GTX 680 SLI. This is without DoF and AO.
People who get this crash on a regular basis can you please look at your Windows log files and see if your system suffers off TDR's when XIV is crashing, look for this line:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
Oh and Nvidia could not reproduce this issue yet so don't expect anything being fixed in the next drivers, I got a PM from their tech support guy today:
I filed him more detailed descriptions about the problem as well as log files.
They have to walk around the cities, inside them. Gridania, uldah, limsa lominsa. With AO and DOF on, because thats when the crashes happen and it loses directx.Just a heads up, I had no crashes for a week with GTX 680 SLI. This is without DoF and AO.

Anyone could record a video of the crash upload it to YouTube and give them the link. That's how easy it is to reproduce it. I would do it now, but I'm at work.
I reproduced it in a 22 min video beginning to end. Gonna upload it later tonight. Thing is 3.3gb

This is the link to the Nvidia forum problems for gtx 680. I put the link for the crash bug that is happening with this video card. Hope nvidia will be able to reproduce it and put a fix.

From what i see on this video:

The problem is that for some reason the video card stop working for a moment and restart after it. You can reproduce the same effect using the keys Win + P to change the display device if you have more than one display or you can also have the same effect changing the desktop resolution.
On both ways you are making the video card stop the acceleration and restart it to make the change of display/resolution. So the problem i think is there is something thats its making restart the acceleration after some time.
I don't know much of nvidia drivers but from a little googled i think you can debug the error using the GLExpert of the nvidia PerfKit.
Good Luck guys! Don't feel but about this, on Ati is almost the same, i have a 7950 and I'm still waiting for a good driver.![]()
I'm the Princess of the Night~~
I found this old Windower prevents the game from halting when the video card hardware is reset while the game in running. Be sure to choose Alternate injection method so it's not loaded into the ffxilogin process (so your login info will be safe). If this doesn't help... well SE really needs to fix this so this problem is resolved (It's SE's fault and NO ONE ELSES!)
BTW can you notice any difference with AO enabled?
