The elitists just aren't capable of controlling themselves, or their attitudes. Half the time I don't think they're trolling and thats how they genuinely think, and behave. They have no regard for anyone else. This is amplified even further by the moderation on these forums being extremely lacking at the best of times.

As for ranked itself I personally see no incentive to do the grind again beyond the mild entertainment it offers. It is best enjoyed like most things in moderation, and the rewards on offer aren't exciting enough for the likes of me. I do find it hilarious to enter ranked on alts with a big sprout slapped on their name and nothing but the ugliest mismatch ARR gear, and then carry games for as high as you can climb.
